Generally Speaking -- SSR Questions

We'll be checking into SSR this Friday on our developer points. We expect to arrive somewhere around Noon, and I know check-in is listed as 4:00. Any experiences or perspective on the likelihood of our room being ready early? I know nothing is guaranteed, but our last two (non-DVC) trips we were able to have early check-in.

If we can't, I assume there is somewhere near the pool we can change into our swimsuits??

There is a very good chance your room will be available. If your room is not ready, there is a room that you can use, next to the pool to change into your bathing suits. You will need your room key to access the room.

When we arrived at SSR on Monday Jan. 26th around 10am, we did not get into our room until 4:30pm.

Thank goodness that day was sunny, low '80s temp.....we just swam at the pool all afternoon. Yes, there are bathrooms right by the pool.

When we checked into SS in June, our room wasn't ready until after 5, so we changed in the bathrooms near the pool in Grandstand (we knew our room would be in that section, so that's where we hung out).

Another great option is to leave your bags with bell services, then walk to Downtown for the afternoon. Grab a sandwich or a sundae, then enjoy the evening. Often, bell services will have your bags in your room when you get back. You gotta love Disney!!

We arrived on the 21st (end of presidents day week) around 12:30 and the room was ready..........but I think it's hit or miss.

Our check in date was Dec 16 and when we arrived at the resort around noon and the room was ready!! There have been many times though that we have arrived and the room wasn't ready! Like it's been said -it's hit or miss.
We always leave our luggage with bell services and hit MK,it has traditionally been the first place we go every trip since the kids were little!
Just can't wait to hit Main Street!!!

At SSR I almost always have a choice of having a room ready or waiting for the location I originally requested. I almost always choose the ready room because I like to get to the grocery store. I think they do it on purpose!

When we arrived, our room was also ready, but it is a hit and miss from what I gather. Plus I think it depends on requests too, if you're really worried and if they're really trying to honor them.

I agree about leaving your luggage with bell services (or if by car, in your vehicle) and heading over to DTD as an alternative to using the pool. The walk to DTD is so nice or you could take a boat or bus, and enjoy the afternoon there. Obviously, the downside to this is DTD seems to be a money hog (for me at least) because I cannot NOT spend money at WOD ! Either way, I hope you enjoy the resort and have a magical vacation!

We are going to be coming from the Disney cruise- and wanted to stop and get groceries on the way to SSR. Is there a place to keep our groceries cold until we get our room- it will probably be pretty early- as they "kick" you off the ship between 6-8am.

When Garden Grocer delivers and you have not arrived, Bell Services keep your groceries for you and they do have refrigerated areas so the answer must be yes!

I am curious to know if the OP got their room early and got the request they wanted......

We check in on Wednesday at around 4pm.
