General short term availability question...

I think this is the right place to post this question. We are waiting for our first DVC resale purchase to close (already passed ROFR and sent our funds and closing documents) so it will probably be another 2-3 weeks or so before we are able to get our member number, etc. We have had plans for a non-Disney vacation this summer, but I think those plans may fall through. If so, I was wondering what the likelyhood of getting a 6-7 night studio reservation somewhere on property for either late June or anytime in July would be once we get our member information (probably St. Patricks Day or just after)? We're not too worried about any particular resort, and normally we book our vacations way in advance, but if our other plans fall through (and we should know by the time we get our member info) would it be possible to get a week long studio reservation during the summer at 3 months or so out from arrival?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

At 3 months, SSR, OKW and AKL are very likely to have something available.

Thanks for the thoughts. We are fine with either SSR or AKV for sure. We would have a car so the bus transit times wouldn't be an issue and we loved the pool at AKV the last time we stayed there. I would just like to get a stay at a single resort and not have to do a split stay if possible.

You will definitely find a non-split stay somewhere and you can waitlist for a different resort if you wish. With 3 or 4 months to go a waitlist might be successful.

I was able to get 4 nights in a studio with availability at the 3 mentioned (no need to split) a week before my trip. It was a different time of year, but if you're not looking at a holiday, you should be fine.

If you want time right around July 4 then SSR may be your only chance. If later in July you should have a good chance at SSR, OKW or AKV. As to any other resorts there is not likely to be anything open for 6-7 nights.

Most likely we wouldn't be looking at July 4th. Probably 2nd or 3rd week of July. We haven't stayed at SSR or OKW, but have toured at SSR and I think we would be fine there. Since we'll be driving down, the ability to park right at our room with a 2 1/2 year old and a 4 month old might work out better than staying in one of the hotel style DVC properties, especially when heading back for afternoon naps!
