General Public

Is it safe to assume that unless going during a very quiet time, the general public will not be offered room discounts? DBF and I are looking to go June, July or August; preferably June. We found airfare for less than $200 per person and the park tickets are a non-issue. However, I doubt we'll be able to go unless we miraculously find a cheaper option for rooms. WDW is just not very affordable for college students. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know about the quiet times, but there were many folks hoping for a general public code for January this year and nothing showed up. Only AP/Fl residents, AAA, and a package for the public with special tickets. There were no AP discounts for June last year and for July there were AP discounts for EPCOT resorts and DVC...so no value or moderate AP discounts last June and July. If there are no AP or FL discounts, there will be no general public ones, since they are released last after these 2 groups. Your best bet would be August. There could be a good package released in August and possibly room discounts. With it being hurricane season, August and September tend to have the best deals.

People are anxiously awaiting news of if there will be free dining again this August-September. It has already been offered as bounce back and UK... THe deal does require you to pay full price for your room. However if you manage it right, it gives you all the food you need for your trip.


Also think about rate seasons. there are significant price differences. Values and Mods go back down to value season from summer season on August 5, and Deluxes go down to Value from Regular on JULY 8.


There is always aaa which depending on how long and where you are staying can save you some. If you go Value hotel in June it should make it something like 93 a night and if you go in August it should make it about 66 a night (plus taxes).

Looking at mousesavers.com it doesnt show a general public code for summer last year. However it does say there was a disney visa one which I though were always followed by the same thing available to general public. I guess I was wrong. It was only good through June 3, but with Disney, your whole stay is the same price as the first night. booking window was like feb. 20 through march 30. I don't know if you could even apply it and be able to use it in time to be able to get a room.

As the above posters said, last year no discounts were offered for the months June 3-August 13.

Maybe try renting from a DVC owner. You would pay value prices for a Deluxe Hotel.
