So, I wonder why Niagara Falls was empty today? Not literally THE Falls, lol, but the stores and attractions! Could it be that it was a Friday morning in January with the Wind Chill well below ZERO and the winds averaging 25 MPH gusting to 35 MPH? That could definitely be it!

How do I know this interesting information? Well, I was there today! With my three little kids. :smooth: We went to the Niagara Falls Aviary, www.niagarafallsaviary.com, and saw lots of birds, frogs, lizards and BATS! :bounce: Very cool! They even fed the lorikeets and were covered in birds! Then we decide to go to the Hershey Store! This is were things get, ummm... bad. The very nice lady at the Aviary told me that it was a two minute walk... hahahahaha... more like 15 minutes in below zero wind chill (we had no mittens or hats due to the Aviary). We finally made it (me carrying Abby) to the CHOCOLATE store :bounce: ! Yum! Then we decide to go next door to Planet Hollywood for lunch. Yep, outside, up the hill and it is CLOSED! Ugh. Back down to Hershey. We then decide to go to the Rainforest Cafe. That was very good! Then a long, cold walk back to the van only to drive into WHITEOUTs all the way home! Yep... nothing like driving into blinding, blowing, drifting snow and not seeing where you are going!

But we made it home! :bounce: And had a fun, albeit cold, morning!

BTW, my kids had no school due to Staff Development Day.

We kept pretending we were in Disney in July and were HOT, HOT, HOT but it really didn't work too well :( . We were still cold.

Karen & Kids!

That reminds me of the time dh & I stopped at the Falls on our way back from a trip to Toronto! It was about this cold and we were alone by the falls. I got some awesome pictures but it sure was cold. Glad you had fun.

We have tend to visit Niagara Falls during the "off" season. Although it's nice when there aren't any crowds, it sure can get cold in that part of the country in the winter.

DD Sarah and I are the only ones who have visited the Falls during "peak" season when you could actually walk out on Terrapin Point on the American side. Every other time of the year that we've visited, it's been covered by snow and ice.

Sounds like you still had a fun time. We really do need to setup a DISmeet there someday.

A Niagra Falls meet sounds like fun! We were talking about doing Niagra this year.

The last time we went was going on 10 years ago....
