You know the first company to put a CAT(diesel motor) in a 1 ton truck is going to sell like crazy. At least it would in my part of the world.

They used to make a Freightliner FL60 with a small Cat, its only a little bigger than a 1ton

That's the truth. Something like a 6L inline 6 would be great for these trucks. Cat was actually working with Ford in the late 90's on a light diesel for the F150. It looks like it was a technology demonstration for the DOE. It was a 3.0L V6 diesel. The 4.5l Duramax v6 got dropped due to the poor economy, this would have been a great combo in the 1/2 tons for people who didnt tow real heavy. Between the economy and the new 2010 EPA regs the diesel world is changing fast.
