I will be heading down to the world in December. I am curious to what you bring along with you. I don't want to be the one that forgets something stupid.

I am planning on the following:

1. Laptop (Dump pictures)
2. Camera (XTi)
3. Lens (18-55)
4. Lens (70-300)
5. CF Cards (a variety)
6. Gorilla Pod
7. Speedlight (might be needed at MVMCP)
8. Battery Charger
9. Card reader

I might pick up a Tamrac bag to use when I am going around the World (right now I use a Canon backpack). Would you suggest getting the battery grip and the extra battery??? :confused3

My last trip (8 Days) I took:

(2) Camera Bodies
(2) Batteries & a charger for each
(2) Speedlights
(4) Lenses 50/1.8, 17-55/2.8, 70-200/2.8vr, 10.5/2.8 Fisheye
(10) 2Gig Memory Cards
(2) Camera Bags- Tamrac Express-8 & Pro-12
(1) Laptop w/ Card Reader & 160GB External Hard Drive
(1) Portable Tripod
(1) Cleaning Kit
(1) Remote Cable Release

I have the battery grip but it will not fit in the small bag so I just took the extra batteries- Except for hauling the 70-200 to AK one day and the Tripod at night a few times my daily lug-into-the-park pack consisted of:

Express-8 Bag w/ 1 Camera, 50/1.8, 17-55, 10.5mm Fisheye, 1 Speedlight, and memory cards.

I never thought of the speedlite for the MVMCP. It is a lighted parade, correct? This will be my first winter trip.

Mikeeee

otherwise:

XT
50mm 1.8
28-135 is
70-300 is
580 speedlite
lowepro bag
tripod
5G memory (currently)
IR remote, which is nice if you are in front of the camera. Not the best for fireworks.

I just take a speedlight for the character greeting with the kids. ;)

things I take

1. Canon 40D
2. Canon XT
3. 24-70 f/2.8
4. 70-200 f/2.8
5. 50 f/1.8
6 sigma 18-125
7. batteries
8. Chargers
9. CF cards
10. Laptop and card reader
11. 430 flash
12. Remote releases for XT (still need to get the one for the 40D)
13. Tripod (need to replace, this is my top of the list need)
14. circular polorizer
15. Bags (lowpro mini treker and slingshot 200)

Things I have with me 99% of the time

1. Canon 40D
2. 24-70
3. 70-200
4. 430 Flash
5. Extra battery for the 40D
6. Extra 4gb CF card
7. slingshot 200

At least that is what I did last weekend. Prior to that I didn't have the 40D or the slingshot and was mostly just carrying the xt with only the 24-70 lens attached.

I think what you actually have with you should really be a function of what you plan on doing. Why carry a bunch of stuff your most likely never going to get out of the bag.

How is riding rides with the slingshot 200? I need a bag that I can bring along on the rides with me.

It was very easy to ride with it on, for most rides I simply slide it around front and closed the bar and then laid the bag on top of the bar. A couple of rides I had to take it off and put it on the floor at my feet. It was way way easier than when I used to carry the backpack.

All in all, I am most pleased with the 200.

I almost just bit on a barely-used Slingshot AW200 over on another forum, but decided that I still wouldn't be able to beat the amount of lenses and such that I can cram into my old boxy Tamrac.

Anyway, on topic, here's what I took to WDW in January:

ReadyForWDW.jpg

Pentax *ist DL and Pentax K1000 cameras.
Pentax 18-55mm, Pentax 50-200mm, Pentax 50mm F1.4, Sigma 28mm F2.8, Zenitar 16mm fisheye, Vivitar 400mm F5.6 (didn't use it once and have since sold it.)
Memory cards, CP filter, star filter, film, memory card reader.
Homemade "Tic-Tac" remote shutter release.
Mini tripod, Clamperpod, Bogen aluminum monopod, Slik Pro carbon fiber tripod, Bogen ball head.
Camera bag and lens pouch.

For my trip to Disneyland in September, I had...
Pentax K100D and Pentax *ist DL (the latter for the wife, who never really got a chance to use it)
Pentax 18-55mm (don't think it got used at all), Pentax 50-200mm, Pentax 50mm F1.4, Pentax 10-17mm fisheye, Tamron 28-75mm F2.8
Memory cards, a couple CP filters (big one for the Tamron), star filter, card reader
Tic-Tac remote shutter release
Clamperpod, Slik Pro CF tripod, Bogen ball head
Pentax AF360FZ flash
Camera bag, two lens pouches (only used one at a time), Tamrac memory card/battery wallet, Tamrac lens pouch

One day I went lightweight and carried just the K100D, 28-75mm, 10-17mm, and 50mm. I kept one lens on the camera and crammed the other two into a single belt pouch. I also had the card/battery wallet and lens pouch on my belt, and the remote shutter release in my pocket. The tripod was stuck in the bottom of our stroller. Worked pretty well, those three were my key lenses so I was able to survive pretty well with just them.

Oh yeah, I always have my "Spudz" 18% gray lens cloth somewhere, too - either attached directly to the camera (as in the photo) or on the zipper of the memory card wallet - somewhere where it will be immediately available if I need it.

Also, some sort of laptop always comes along, with DVD burning capability. I trust hard drives - especially laptop hard drives - about as far as I could throw Spaceship Earth, so I don't want to just leave all my pics sitting there!

How is riding rides with the slingshot 200? I need a bag that I can bring along on the rides with me.

The slingshot 200 worked great for me. The only ride that was a challenge at all was Space Mountain and it still fit pretty well under my legs, just dont over pack it and you'll be fine.
