GCV webcast email

Does anyone have any idea on what the incentive will be??

Got my goodie packet today! Going to have to display the pin somewhere...

So sad, we didn't receive our packet of goodies and I signed up on the first day.:sad2:

I thought the incentives would of been better, these aren't as good as the previous ones.

What were the previous incentives?

True but those incentives are gone and may never be equalled. If someone attended the webcast and is interested in adding points, I don't know that it would be in their best interest to hold out for something better.

Did anyone watch it last night? Our computer wasn't cooperating and we missed the first 15 minutes. But it still seems like buying on a cruise gives you the best deals, according to the poster on page 1, as well as our recent experience on the cruise in February.

What do you all think about the telecast? What did you think of the "funny" lady?

I'm not sure that's even a reliable rule of thumb.

We cruised in Februrary 2009. The deals offered during our sailing were exactly the same as what was being marketed to the public UNLESS you purchased something like 500 points. At that high level they added an RCI week to the offer. But for lower point add-ons the prices were exactly the same.

As the economy worsened in early '09 incentives continued getting better. But from June forward they have slowly pulled back on the discounts and now have an $8 price increase pending on BLT. Publicly DVC insists its pleased with the pace of sales and the dwindling discounts seem to confirm that. While the prices we're seeing are not as good as they were in the winter and spring, I still think folks may be in for a rude awakening if they are holding out for similar deals.

When it comes to discounts, 14 months ago $8 per point was the norm and $12 was viewed as an amazing bonus. If DVC has its way, the days of offering a $20+ per point discount are quickly coming to an end.

We were at the gathering last night also. The GV was amazing! I believe the hit of the night was the TV within the mirror of the master bath. One story that was told to me was an "A" actor is a big Disney fan and stayed with his family quite frequently at this resort in their favorite room. When the DVC addition started to be constructed, his favorite view became obstructed. So he called down to the desk to see what was going on and they stated that this addition was for DVC members. He wanted to know what that was and they transferred him to a sales rep. Low and behold he bought a substantial amount of points to guarantee his view (I heard approx. 3 x's a week's points). There are only two GV's at this resort.

I bought in July with a $22/pp discount, and that's without the AP discount, (it would have cost more pp if I added the AP's...;););) )
There was a post that on one of the cruises, the VGC discount was down to $85/pp (at the cruise). That being said, I'm just happy I have what I got. Hard to say because of the above post, who know's what the cost will be in the future.
I just feel blessed to be able to afford DVC @ GVC...I'm actually thinking of donating some points to a family who doesn't have the capability to have what we have...:littleangel: A little vacation for those in need...:)

Thanks to all who have posted pics...:yay:

I got off the 7 nite eastern on 9/5/09. They had good deals on GCV. They gave $27 off on purchases of 200 pts or more (or $85/pt).

I'm not sure that's even a reliable rule of thumb.
