For estate planning purposes, I am considering purchasing a small GCV contract to eventually leave for my son who lives in CA. He's just getting married, no kids. Is 50 points a good starting point? Once he eventually gets the contract the MF's should hopefully be managable. Even 60 pts would give them a one bedroom every other year in choice season. Thoughts?

I have a 50 point contract at GCV with the intention of traveling to the other coast every three years using banking/borrowing. So for me, it works well (first trip "home" later this year).

Do you feel it's enough with your CA trips?

If you go every other year, I think it should be enough around 4-6 days a year during non peak seasons . Although once they have a bigger family they might want to upgrade to a 1br. But by then they can probably add on through resales or something.
