Any idea pre-COVID whether a 2 bdrm has been difficult to book at the 7 month mark in the summer? I have always been able to book a 1 bdrm and I assume this is because it uses a lot of points but can't sleep any more people than a studio can. I assume this would not apply for a 2 bdrm.

Also wondering whether you can choose between a lock-off vs non lock-off when you book. I just tried a test booking right now for 7 months and there is availability but there doesn't seem to be an option to choose between the 2.

TIA

Before COVID, you would see a few 2 bedrooms right at the 7 month mark. By that, I mean login as soon as reservations open at the exact 7 month mark.

Studios go the fastest, followed closely by two bedrooms, then one bedrooms, the grand villas. Sometimes grand villas are still available a week before check in, although rare.

We are locals and will sometimes stalk a one or two night reservation and snag it if it comes up. Haven't had the points for a while to do that, we keep using them at Disney World. But we also own at GCV, so we also have been known to book at the 11 month mark.

My point is, stalking combined with a wait-list can work out here as well, you just need to be more vigilant about checking every single day yourself in addition to the wait-list.
