GCSE results 2moz?

GCSE - General Certificate of Secondary Education. These are the exams that students in their 5th year of secondary school take when they are 16. After these, students may leave school or go onto the 6th form where they spend two more years studying for their A-levels, which are university entrance exams.

Well, our grades are looser. I think you need about 95%, or close to that, to get an A, where we need about 80% to get an A* (A+)

well doneeee guys!

our standard grades are basically your GCSEs, but we only sit 8
i got 1s (like an A) in maths, french, graphic communication and geography
and 2s (like a B) in english, art, physics and chemistry

last year i sat my Highers (just less than A-Levels)
i got an A for geo, B for english and art C for maths and failed physics (D)
we only sit 5 btw.

This year im taking advanced highers Art and Geography and Higher business management:)

So you just finished your version of AS levels I think.

Welldone on your highers, sounds like you did really well :)

awww thankyou:lmao: some people did waaaayyy better than me though! people for 5 As haha!

What are GCSEs?
Are they like mandated tests that schools force you to take to show "overall" how you are doing? Like if you're an advanced student or if you need more help? And then based on how well the results are the government gives money to the schools?

We have those, but they all have different names since they're mandated by the state. Like in Pennsylvania, we have the PSSAs. Pennsylvania State Student Assesment.

And is your grading system similar to ours?
Like A+ are the best of the best, A is close to the best, A- is near the best. Then B is pretty good, C is good, but needs work. D is bad, and F is failing. The +s and -s follow each letter too.

They're qualifications you need to get into universities and/or colleges and/or jobs:)
I know that here the government dont do anything like that with money, each school gets the funding that is believed to be appropriate for their various statistics (i.e the number of students, if the building or rooms need to be upgraded, services that school has to provide, the number of teachers and the number of resources available)

Seeing as you passed your other exams, I don't really think it'd be a huge deal.

Also, congrats on your results. You must be well pleased :)
