Looking for details, is there a better view, closer to elevators, etc?

also do all theme park views have balconies?

I just snagged a last minute reservation for GCH, theme park view in 2 weeks and am trying to decide if we should keep it or not (we have a back up reservation at HOJO).

thanks

The GCH is my favorite hotel. I've only had a DTD view, but I hear the Theme park view is nice as well. At the GCH, it is the only hotel that has balconies of the Disney-owned hotels. There is typically a table a two chairs out on the balcony. The elevators don't seem to be close to anything, so if that's important to you I'm not sure this hotel would work.

I would definitely choose this over HOJO if you have the opportunity too.

We've done it, it was very nice! I do believe that all the rooms have balconies, so that is a definite. We had a room that was furthest from the elevators, but that made it close to the park! Standing on our balcony in our bathrobes we could wave at park visitors. In the evenings you can hear the "mood music" in the park, including chirping crickets and babbling brooks. Plus the five minute walk from your room to the park is about as great as it gets! It's definitely a splurge, but I'd say go for it!

The rooms are very nicely appointed, and the hotel itself is really wonderful for hanging out. I wish I could remember what our room number was. Believe it was the third floor, and like I said it was at the very end of the hall.

We stayed in two theme park view rooms (adjoining) in March. We liked to watch the people and the lights and hear the music. It took about 1 minute to get to California Adventure! It rained while we were there so we could see people leaving the park or walking around in ponchos. I'd love to stay in the same rooms again some day (we had booked AP rates for run-of-the-house and requested theme park views and got them!)!

Enjoy!

New question...

has anyone used their sleeping bag/blow up mattress option?

We actually are looking at bringing my grandma now iwth us.. will put 5 in the room.. so my brother may do the sleeping bag thingy...

I heard there are a limited number of rooms with sofa sleeprs but they are all city views and there are none available right now.. I am going to keep calling and see if I can change the view.. an actual sofa sleeper would seem to outweigh the view I guess..

any thoughts?

We used the sleeping bag option. My friend, her two kids (8 & 12), myself and my son (8) stayed there in June of 2003. The kids loved the sleeping bags, they made their own little "tents" and made it a camp out. I have not seen a room with a sofa sleeper, are they only available in rooms with a king bed? I know our room - which had two queens, would not have fit a sofa sleeper.

I was in Room 4101, over the main entrance, and we had two queens and a sofa bed. I really liked that room for its location, comfort, and view.

So you can have more than one sleeping bag?

I was told by disney that only city view rooms had sofa beds, be it one king or 2 queens...

we decided to stick with the theme park view (not much choice, since nada else is available, but I am not calling 10 times a day to see if a city view room open up anymore)... we requested and upper view, grizzly peak view, sleeping bag, and empty fridge... hopefully they can accomodate, I wasn't sure what other requests could be made... I almost felt like the reservation agent was prodding me for more requests, but I didn't know what else to ask for.
