Wow, that's great to hear they don't stock them anymore. Last time we went in dec. 06 it was, so guess they've changed. Awesome! Yes it used to be a pain. Even if you touched the item it was charged to your room so you had to take care of correcting the charge at check out. Plus, there was no room for anything else. Someone got smart!!! I wondered why my contact at VP sent me a list of items for the fridge, I guess you can now pick certain items you want to have pre-stocked, if you want to pay the price!

Maybe they stopped stocking the mini-fridges when the rooms received new entertainment centers/dressers, new plasma TVs, and new mini fridges.

That is good to hear. I can only imagine what would accidently happen.

Thanks for the suggestion, but he is not military. He works for the same company I did as a private contractor.

When we were there over New Year's the bar off the lounge opened at six...it had coffee, lattes, etc; as well as muffins, croissants...it was perfect for us as the park opened at 7 over the holidays and we needed food but didn't want to waste time eating during the early opening...hope this option is available when we are there over Easter

I haven't stayed since 06 but everytime I have been there they are stocked. Also they are electronically sensored. If you even move an item, or pick it up, and do NOT eat or drink it you would still be charged. That fridge looks empty! There is usually almost no room. Maybe a bottle or two of water and that is all the non sensor space you have. There also used to be candy in the door. Did this change???

I was SO glad they quit stocking these. I'm sure the complaints rolled in as every kid (and their parents) lifted, moved, and explored the contents of the fridge, and then were charged accordingly.

In '07 it was, thankfully, just a very small fridge.

BTW, the breakfast portions in '07 were VERY generous. Two breakfasts fed all three of us with leftover muffins and such. Room service is WHY I stay in hotels like this; lounge around, eat breakfast, let somebody else clean up after you.. .

I was SO glad they quit stocking these. I'm sure the complaints rolled in as every kid (and their parents) lifted, moved, and explored the contents of the fridge, and then were charged accordingly.

In '07 it was, thankfully, just a very small fridge.

Like the lounging idea but it never happens. We work hard and long hours and when we vacation it always turns out the same GO GO GO. Its hell to get old.

When we stayed there a year ago they had stopped stocking the mini-bar fridges.

They're really not THAT small; they are more dorm-sized. We were able to fit a gallon of milk, a 1/2 gallon of soymilk, a 1/2 gallon of juice, yogurt cups, and some of our bottled water in there.

That's what we did for breakfast, BTW: we ordered groceries to be delivered to the hotel, from Vons (I liked Albertson's better when we tried them in October, though). We had our breakfast items delivered to the hotel along with a rack of bottled water (the tap water is horrible! ). It worked out well for us to be able to eat on the run as we were getting ready... we'd just take some of the more portable stuff with us to eat as we waited in line at the gates, too. Some guy was commenting on our daughters each munching on an apple or banana, "I shoulda thought of that."

He's going to love it, it's a really great hotel. If I had unlimited funds I'd be there every time!

Oh, yeah, forgot to mention a GCH secret: the secret door to DTD. It depends on where his room ends up being, but if he gets a DTD view, this might come in handy.

There's a locking fire door in the far northeast wing of the hotel that lets out in DTD right next to La Brea Bakery, kind of to the side of the Disney store. It's right near the top of DTD and very close to the security tables. You have to take the stairs down from the end of that corridor to get out that way. Of course, the only problem with it is that you can't get back in that way, because it's locked. Unless you make somebody in your party run all the way around (and it's kind of a long way around!) and come down and let you in, while you hang around La Brea Bakery trying not to look like you're suspicious.

We looked for the "secret door" when we stayed there, but I never did figure it out and I didn't have a lot of extra time to traipse around looking. But we were close to the lobby elevators, so we had a pretty easy walk to our room, anyway.

I wasn't aware that the mini-fridges at the GCH are stocked.

I know the mini-fridges are not stocked at the DLH or the PPH.

The mini fridges are no longer stocked..they are just fridges for your use.

I think those of us calling the fridge small were referring to the stocked version. You seriously had room for maybe 2 bottles of water and nothing else . I am beyond happy to hear they are no longer stocking them!!!

Here is our tip for early breakfast at the GC or even Disneyland Hotel--room service. We order it the night before, and have it delivered for the time we should be getting up. This is our "wake up call". We are a family of 5 (three kids) and split 3 breakfasts between us, because they give you tons of extras and these are big breakfasts. There is one breakfast that comes with both coffee and juice, so we order two of those (it also has eggs, lots of toast, bacon or sausage and potatoes). This way my husband and I are woken up with a small pot of coffee each, and we split up the food between the kids. We also order one order of waffles. Since we are only paying for 3 breakfasts this way, it actually is not that expensive. Just ask for extra plates.

This way we all get some protein in the morning before hitting the parks, and it is a great way to start our morning. I love getting woken up to a fully made breakfast with plenty of hot coffee!

Thanks to evryone for the advice and photo's. I am zipping all the files and sending the info to him. Spliting the breakfast room service and bringing in food would be my way to go. Will have to see what his thoughts are. Any more ideas, please post.

Whitewater snacks is great (and quick)! They have bagels, cereals, and bkfst burritos (so yummy) and you can also get scrambled eggs, bacon and toast (which is not on the menu but I saw someone get it one day and asked for it the next day). Very good.

Also, be sure to call reservations and request an upper level (4th or 5th floor)fireworks view if possible. They will note it on your reservation. I did this and got my view and my double queens! Some of the CM's you talk to in reservations are clueless about this and will tell you they do not have fireworks view but that is not true.
I had 2 people tell me this but I knew better due to this board!
It is fabulous place to be in the hotel but a bit loud even with the door shut so bring ear plugs!
I am a very light sleeper and luckily DL wore me out and I had no problems sleeping.

Warning about room service--do not order it on off hours. Like one night we ordered dinner at 9:00 pm and the food was horrible. (we got a cheeseburger, turkey club (turkey tasted bad) and mac and cheese for the kids and the fries were cold.)..this was over $50 and not really edible. I bet it would have been better during normal dining hours. Our food was cold like it was sitting out for an hour.
