GCH in July

We're going on our first trip to DL in July and would love to stay at the GCH. Yikes $380 a night for a standard room is STEEP! Does anyone know if you can rent DVC points? Would that help offset the cost?

I am using my DVC points to stay at GC in April. Ask this question on the DVC board, they are very knowledgable.

Actually, I'm surprised it isn't higher at that time of year. GCH is very pricey.

You can use DVC points for the GCH but its hard to find a DVC member who will rent you points to use at Disneyland. DLR hotels are on a different system than the DVC resorts at WDW. Once you make reservation for a DLR on points, those points HAVE to be used at DLR hotels. Because there isn't as much flexibility using points at Disneyland it is not as easy to find someone to rent you points for that purpose.

But the real issue is that renting points wouldn't even make sense. In July the points needed for one night at the GCH, Standard view is 37. The going rate for points rental is $11-12 per point. So that would end up being more than that $380 rate.

I would recommend you also check Expedia, I have found good deals there for onsite hotels at Disneyland.
