Our family of 5 will be arriving at the Grand Californian in 11 days!! Our flight doesn't get in until 5:30pm, so we likely won't be checking in until 7-7:30 ish. Being so late in the day, I am worried that we will end up in a room with just two queen beds, and the 5th person will end up with a sleeping bag. (That will not go over with my DH who doesn't even know this is a possibility.) How can I assure that we get either bunkbeds w/ the trundle, or a daybed room? We are not picky...either one would work, but I just do not want anyone sleeping on the floor....not at those prices!

You can call your travel agent, or the hotel directly (17146352300), maybe 2/3 days ahead and let them know your request. There is no guarantee, but it might help.

We are a family of 4 and not getting a daybed is not acceptable to us either. What we have always done is make a special request through the central reservations line and mention that my husband is 6' 6" and sharing a queen size bed with him wouldn't really feasible. We've always been assigned a room with 2 queen beds and the daybed.

If you put a good "spin" on your particular circumstances and call a handful of times to make sure that the request is in their system you should be okay.
