GCA $259, DL Hotel $169, Paradise Pier $159, 8/24-12/18 2008

That would be SO cool:thumbsup2 I just can't justify spending $234/night for 5 nights. But I could justify $189 night :cool1:

Please please please if you aren't using your pin share with those of us less fortunate than you.

Anyone not using their pin want to share with me? We would love to stay at the DLH in the begining of Dec but the DLH rate we were given with the AP is $234 a night. Is it rude to ask???

From the WDW side of the DIS (regarding PINs):

Please, Please, Please adhere to DIS board guidelines. Posting any offer that is reported to be a PIN offer, regardless of whether or not you have been able to use it without a PIN is AGAINST DIS POSTING GUIDELINES.

For anyone who's been able to check, were these weekday only or weekend too?

Offer valid 8/24/08 to 12/18/08 with blackout dates of 11/25-11/29, 12/5-12/6, 12/12-12/13, so as you can tell, with the exception of Thanksgiving Day, those are Friday and Saturday night stays. But no blackouts for Halloween, which this year is on a Friday - kinda weird.

I got the postcard yesterday as well. I live 10 miles from Disneyland, so I have never stayed at any of the resorts there. I don't have a Disney Visa, not a current AP holder, no DVC . . . but, we just spent a good deal of money on the Magic Mexican Riviera cruise at the end of May. Maybe this is our thank-you from Disney?

You'll have to forgive us. This whole PIN thing is brand new to me, not being a WDW person. So are you saying that we aren't allowed to post requests for someone to allow us to use their PIN. Or is this thread as a whole not allowed to exist at all?

I don't see any reason not to try! It does in fact say that it is non-transferable, and I have read on numerous posts that you will not be able to use the pin code offer if you are not the person it was addressed to. However as mentioned above exceptions do happen because lawyergirl22 stated that the postcard was addressed to her mom and she booked a stay... so eventhough it was her address it was not her name!

If someone is willing to offer you the pin, I say give it a try and see what happens. I'm sure Disney wants reservations regardless of who is coming, and it isn't as though numerous people were trying to use the same pin or anything... that would be cheating! I'm sure, as mentioned by someone on another thread, it all depends on who you get on the phone! In fact it is too bad there isn't a list of reservations specialists that are truly helpful with regard to getting a great deal and free upgrades! Too bad we don't have codes for that!

Okay, I just got it today!!! Yay!! It IS from Disney Destinations, for those who asked. I did not receive the postcard, mind you, but I did get the e-mail. AND, because of a mistake they made, I can pinpoint exactly where they obtained my name and info. Walt Disney Travel Company's list. That is where. See, back in Dec. 2007, I made a reservation at the GCH for December 2008. When I was on the phone with WDTC, they kept asking who my 'guest' was going to be, and I remarked that since it was a full year in advance, I wasn't 100% sure yet! They pressed, so I gave them the name of the friend I thought would be accompanying me as my guest just to give them a name. For some reason, the person on the phone listed my friend as being the one who held the reservation rather than ME. They simply entered her name onto the wrong line. So when I called them back about something else later, and gave them MY name, they said that her name was the one on the reservation! They never changed it even when I corrected them. I ultimately had to cancel my WDTC reservation at GCH for other reasons and they seemed to acknowledge ME and MY NAME and that it was MY reservation, so I thought they had corrected the error.

Lo and behold, today, my e-mail with the discount is addresed to MY FRIEND! It does not have my name anywhere on it. I am certain I could use it and explain to WDTC what had happened. I can't see that they would shut me out of a good deal because THEY screwed up. In fact, I MIGHT even get a second e-mail with MY NAME on it because my name is floating around in the database for other reservations - such as the Dec. 2007 one that I used when I stayed at GCH. I would feel better using the one with my name on it, but, again, I can't see that they would give me a fight once I explained the whole problem.

It's the sharing of PIN codes. These are not distributed to the public, such as AP rates, etc. This the first I've seen DL doing codes the same as WDW and there is a whole section on that board related to it. You are allowed to share that there is a code and that people are getting them, but the codes themselves are not supposed to be shared.

Per Sue Ellen, a moderator on the WDW board:

First and foremost is a reminder that per DIS posting guidelines only PUBLIC codes may be listed on the DIS (annual passholder, FL resident, general public, etc.) Here is a direct quote from the guidelines:

9. DISCOUNT CODES: From time to time, Disney will send postcards via US Mail to select groups offering special deals. These codes are not intended for the general public, rather they are marketed to specific areas of the country. Under no circumstances can discount codes that are printed on these postcards be posted on our boards. Any such posts will be deleted immediately. We feel that if this is overly abused on the Internet, that Disney will eventually stop offering these discounts all together, in which case, everyone loses.

Please, Please, Please adhere to DIS board guidelines. Posting any offer that is reported to be a PIN offer, regardless of whether or not you have been able to use it without a PIN is AGAINST DIS POSTING GUIDELINES.

These posts will be removed, and if they continue the Webmasters will again go to the "no codes posted" rules that used to be in place.

The webmasters have generously allowed for codes to be posted that are public codes (FL resident, AP, AAA, general public) let's not ruin that by continuing to post codes that are not intended for everyone to use.

Yes, some CMs may book a reservation for guests with a code that requires a PIN and not apply the PIN, but that can have repercussions for that CM or for the guest possibly.

If there is ANY INDICATION on these boards that a code that has been listed was a PIN offer and not a general public code PLEASE DO NOT CONTINUE TO TRY TO POST IT HERE.

Thank you,
Sue Ellen

Now, this is from the WDW Resorts Board, but it's the same thing.....

I was in no way suggesting that anyone should try to post the pin code on any thread! I intend to use mine even if we have to drive to save money, but if someone isn't going to use theirs why can't they mail it to someone else for them to use. Provided that they handle the whole thing privately. It just seems terrible for someone to throw the offer away!

Yeah I realize now how that sounded, but seriously even with the cost of gas it is a considerable savings for a family of four to drive. A roundtrip 380 miles at $4.50/gallon brings us to about $230 which compared to the $636 on Southwest for 4 roundtrips is a $400 savings... that would mean we could use that money for food and souvenirs or maybe even an additional night instead of giving it to Southwest!

OK... so I got a card with PIN in the mail today. Only catch is it's for my mother and not for me. Since I booked her Disney cruise last year, my address is listed with her name.

I think Disney must have some way of screening people to figure out who isn't going to Disney as much as they could be and somehow I got screened out, as I am definitely going to DL as much as anyone could be expected to!

I'm going to try to use my mom's code now. Let's see if it works.

See my above post - I got my e-mail and a similar mistake was made with mine.

Yay! Just checked the mail and what do you know - there is one in my mailbox! :cool1: And guess what - it has my sister's name on it! Our address - her name! LOL
She has gone on a few trips with us and has been in our vacation package.
I am assuming they will still let me use this code. Actually she might be going with us in November anyway so it might not matter. :)

But . . . Since I am an AP holder I have been waiting for them to release some good AP rates for the fall. If I book with the "PIN" rates and better AP rates come out can I change them?
Anybody know?

Okay, I need help. I got an email today from Disney Destinations but I can find nothing on the email they sent me that has anything to do about hotel discounts. Am I missing something?

It seems like Disney made that mistake with a bunch of us - putting someone else's name on the card/e-mail, even if that person had nothing to do with planning or paying for the trip! In any case, I can't see that it matters a huge deal. I thnk it just the code that they are concerned with, not really the name. I know it says non-transferable but I doubt they will enforce it.

Well, the e-mail that I got today very clearly states the hotel discount rates right on it, and the PIN. So they just sent you a different one. Maybe they didn't send you a discount PIN since it seems to be random. Not everyone is getting them, meaning maybe they wanted to send out a general email to you but not for discount purposes.

On post #17 I offered to make a list for those of us that would like to have the pin for those of you who received the discount but cannot use it. Should we do this? I know I would like to use try and use the code if that is ethical...?

Hello all--

Checking the mail yesterday and lo and behold, there is the postcard! In looking at it further, I realize it's in my mom's name, sent to my address. Went to DL last year with mom and she had a room in her name, but all the contact info was under my address.

Anyway, I called and gave the CM the PIN # and booked a reservation in my name. The fact that it was addressed to my mom never came up. Also, at the end of the call, she started to say bring the postcard, but then changed her mind and indicated that nothing was saying to bring the card for proof at arrival.

Go figure!:confused3

Gianna

How did this work? I'm on hold right now trying to get a room using a PIN that was sent to me with my mom's name, who has a different last name than me.

I hope they let me book.

Let us know, should be interesting to see if they will let you book using someone else's PIN.
