GC or hojo or Candy Cane

Its funny, I have nothing but great things to say about GC. For us, we love it. We get the room with bunkbeds, so there is space for the kids to play and not wall to wall beds. I love being able to enjoy a meal while sitting on the baloncy. Is it worth it? For us, yes only with an AP rate:goodvibes
We have AP's, so are only expense is the room.

GL with whatever you decide.

You are very lucky, because when I stayed there the $300 was apparently all they had left to offer me as someone with an AP. I had called initially for the AP rate that was advertised in the newsletter. They told me that the only options left for that deal were going to be $300 a night. The way it was phrased by them made it seem like I was upgrading my room since lower options were not available, but still getting an AP deal. Nope. It was bottom of the ladder in amenities, and as mentioned included a sleeping bag (gargh). I'm still not sure what all that extra cost was for when it was supposedly an AP rate.

We used to stay at all the budgets and they were ok, but now we are sold on DGC. However, I will say that our last stay had some housekeeping issues, which I should have reported. I find the room size fine, and the location is unbeatable. The last time I stayed at the DH was in the 60's so maybe if the DGC doesn't measure up this time I'll try the DH next time. It seems a further walk to the parks though...
I discovered ambience and stayiing on site were worth it..and I'm a tightwad in 'real' life.

We loved the hojo! We paid $54 a night, our room was huge, the pool was nice, and the walk was easy.

We were able to add three days in San Diego to our trip, and buy our kids some nice souvenirs because we saved so much $$ on our Hotel.

Good luck with your decision! :thumbsup2

Hi,
The thing that made me nervous about the Hojo is the traffic noise from the Highway. Don't want to hear that. I guess time will tell once we go if we made the right choice :)

Hi Bugdozer-

I hope that you guys have a great stay while you're in Anaheim!

While it's true that we do have rooms that face toward the highway on our property, we also have a lot of rooms that do not! Both our Deluxe and Premium Rooms have great views [of our Garden Pool and of Disneyland], and our Standard Rooms have views of either our Courtyard or our Main Pool.

I have personally stayed in several of our different room types, and I can tell you honestly that freeway noise was never a problem for me in the rooms that did not face towards the highway. In fact, I thought the Deluxe Rooms especially were exceptionally quiet!

[I stayed in the highway facing rooms once, and you can hear traffic noise- but even that I was able to pretty much ignore once I turned the AC on.]

I hope that this information has been helpful to you, and that maybe some other time when your family ventures out to Anaheim again, you might be willing to share part of your stay with us!

Happy New Year!

Hi Lorealle,

Thanks for the great information. I have not booked anything yet. Part of the problem is I want to book a package through Disney. When I checked my dates at the HOJO i found that I can only book a standard room through a Disney package on the DLR site. I do not understand why they don't offer deluxe or premium rooms as an option with a higher price to reflect this.

Picking the hotel has been the most stressful thing i have done so far in regards to this trip. We have never been to Disneyland or California. This is a very special trip. I know we all say that but it really is- as Summer 2006 my then 13 year old son was diagnosed with cancer. He has since been treated and I am happy to say is completely cured and doing well. During the illness we made a list of what we would like to do someday and Disneyland was on that list. So being the over planner I am and wanting to make this trip a dream come true for him I am stressing over the hotel issue. I love the pools at Hojo from the pictures I have seen and he does love to swim but the noise from traffic worried me.

My son saw some pictures from posters here on the dis of the park view rooms and flipped over them but I explained that for some reason Disney does not offer them as part of a package. So here I am today still stressing over where to stay but I need to decide real soon as End of April will be here before I know it:scared1:

Thanks for you informative post nice to see hotels looking at the boards and giving us information.
