GC / Is this typical?

With the low airfares, we decided we may travel to DL for our 1st ever trip to DL & DCA. Our travel dates were 10/16-10/21. We were able to get a good air fare, but the GC was pretty much not available. Is something special that week, are things just picking up or has the GC just been typically full since its opening?

There may be a convention then...we were there 2 weeks ago, and it was busy with conventioneers. Or, maybe its just full....they are offering deep discounts lately, maybe the word is out.

Have you checked out the Fall Getaway package? We have never done a package, only room-only, but this package is truly an incredible deal. Room only with a AAA discount was $225, but the package price was $877 total. After you subtract the cost of your tickets and the other stuff included, the room is only $125 plus tax! We even got a free upgrade to a Downtown Disney view. This might be a better deal than trying to book room only.

Thanks for the advice. The problem I was having with complete packages is I wasn't getting the deep airline discount. Perhaps I should look for the fall fantasy w/o airfare...But, with the military action starting today, I'm no longer sure I feel like flying across the country.

I know what you mean...this is a hard time to go about our "normal" activities and get excited about things. BUT, in my opinion its really important to keep your plans. We live in Northern California, so we just drove to DL, but in less than 2 months we are flying cross-country to your neck of the woods for DW. I think it is very safe to fly at the moment because of all the added security, just my opinion...

Regarding the package, I would definetly keep your low airfare and just book the package (room, tickets) through the Travel Company. We had a lovely time and it really took our minds off things. With a minimum of 4 nights you have a lot of time for leisurely touring and lots of breaks during the day. I hope that you go and have a great time! Good luck deciding....

I just checked the fall fantasy on the Disney website and all three hotels showd no vacancy!
So, I'm not sure this will work out, but I always keep my options open...Oh, and no need to feel sorry for me, I guess, as we do have reservations at the AKL! It'll be our third trip there already...But it would be nice to experience the "original" one day!

Peter Pirate, try to call and see if they have availability. I tried the website and had no luck, but when I called the Disney Club 1-800 # they got me exactly what I wanted, and at a lower rate too!!! BTW...you will love DL...It is truly the place where all the magic started and it really shows!!! Have a great trip!!
