Stayed here for 1 night with my mom, my moms friend and my daughter. We got a good rate that included parking and the resort fee, so I won't complain about all the extra fees people talk about.

The kids pool was under construction, nothing about this mentioned when we made the reservation or befoe we got there. This was a huge dissapointment as we had planned on just hanging out at the hotel. The adult pool was open for everyone...but it is very small for the size of the resort and I have never seen a pool so packed. We didn't even get in.

We wandered around and tried to do the "treasure hunt" with my daughter, but some of the kiosks were broken, so couldn't do that. Went to the game room and they have some very cool motion simulator type games...too bad they weren't working either!

Went to the bar in the Key West area and had a drink. They were about to have live music, so we hung out to see how that would be. Wow it was depressing. I'm not a fan of Jimmy Buffet or anything, but you'd think they would at least play something Key Westy or slightly upbeat. The fastest song they played was "Smooth Operater".

Ate dinner at the very expensive steak house. They were out of the lamb, it was not late and not busy...so I'm assuming they just didn't bother having any. The steak was ok but the sauces were all cold...not even warm.

The hotel rooms were very clean! The walls are very thin. We would hear the entire conversation next door and they were not talking loud at all. The atrium also appeared very clean. But if you look off of your balcony on the ledge below...you'll see tons of trash...yuck!

My moms friend had to call for help because her key wouldnt open the door, it took over 30 minutes to get someone there and that was after she called back and said she needed inside to get her insulin! She also had trouble opening the door, not sure what was wrong, but you had to push the door just the right amount while turning the knob to get it to open. Really, not good at all.

The staff we encountered were always super friendly.

Although it is beautiful, for the price, you can do much better than this hotel. We usually stay at Value resorts at Disney and will gladly stay there again rather than go back to Gaylord Palms.

Thank you for the review. My hubby is attending a convention here and we are planning on tagging along, since it won't cost us anything. I am hoping these issues are under control by then though!

I went in late August (2nd time stay) for the very same reason and love the hotel. We're bringing the family back over Thanksgiving for a few days before checking into Beach Club. There still was construction at the kids pool then, so they allowed kids into the adult pool which meant it wasn't as quiet as in the past. The wait staff at the pool was efficient even though it was quit busy. We couldn't get into our safe as it was closed when we arrived, but security came up within 15 minutes to open. We also had to check-out early thanks to Hurricane Irene and the front desk staff was very helpful. Overall I'd recommend the hotel.

It looks beautiful - I know DS will like the Alligators, snakes and turtles.

Sadly, we will be there Halloween night and the resort isn't doing any activities. I am trying to find some local things to take him to - but I don't know when Hub will get out of his classes. I would rather not do MNSSHP bc I don't want to take the babies and don't want to miss out on their Halloween either...

How about down town? Gaylord has great scheduled bus service to down town, which means you actually know what time the bus is arriving/departing. They might be doing some Halloween related activities there?
