I have booked GP for a long weekend at the end of July/ August, will I be disapointed? Can anyone please give me information/opinions on what thier rooms were like? One last question, was the pool area as nice in person as it looks on their web site? Thanks so much in advance for any information/opinions good or bad :D

I never stayed there myself, but I heard wonderful things about the place. If you can do a search(when search is working) look up Gaylord Palms. I read somewhere that the poster compares it with upscale resorts or the Grand Floridian. Very classy, elegant & loads of fun. I received a few e-mails from GP with specials, but never booked. Like I said, I've never been there, but heard such great things about the place that I wouldn't worry about anything

I can't comment on the rooms because I haven't stayed there...yet. We are staying here for two nights next week July 4-6 and I will be happy to let you know what I think of the rooms when I return. The rooms do look really nice on their website and I have heard that they are also huge. As far as the resort, we did a quick tour last summer. This was the same evening that we arrived in Orlando after driving in from NY so things are a little fuzzy. I was VERY impressed with this resort, it was absolutely gorgeous. I do remember the one pool area with the Octopus slide, very nice. If I recall correctly, it wasn't a huge slide (like the one at the Hard Rock)but nice. I'm not even sure if we saw all of this resort, it's just that big. I'll tell you, I don't think you have any need to be worried and even not seeing the rooms yet, I don't see how anyone would be disappointed in this place. The first thing we (my whole family) said while visiting was how much we would love to stay here someday, and we are thanks to Steve P. who posted a great rate and I took advantage of. I cancelled two of my nights at the Royal Pacific Resort to do so. Don't worry!

I spent one night here via Priceline last month. It is a great resort. Though I still prefer on Disney property better, the Gaylord Palms is an awesome choice when you are off site. I was lucky and asigned an atrium room which means you have french doors that open onto a balcony tha over looks one of the three atriums. the "city" views just have windows that over look the parking areas and surrounding countryside. My balcony was in the Everglades section which looked down on the shacks that werre the Steakhouse. The room was very nicely decorated but not gaudy or frilly. The bathroom was nice though not spectacular. It was very comfortable. Walking around the atriums was fun. The large main pool was very fun looking. The giant Octopus was great. The South beach pool was not as fun but very nice looking and quieter.
You will most likely really have a great time here.

I haven't stayed there, but on our last trip to WDW we visited this resort.

It is BEAUTIFUL!!! The atrium is amazing. We saw 2 pools (don't know how many there are). They both looked very nice.

You will not be disappointed!

Just my opinion- I visited Gaylord Palms for lunch. I thought it was a fantastic hotel, worthy of of mega prestige.
That being said, I think they should leave the theming to Disney. They make an attempt to theme three different sections of the atrium. The problem is that you are still surrounded by a generic hotel. The three different themed areas are not large enough to do any of them justice, as the areas are small enough that you can 'see outside the theme'. Again, being all encompassed by a large, generic hotel does nothing for theming.

Yes, Gaylord Palms is a great hotel that I would have no problem recommending as a 'luxury hotel', but personally I would not get excited over the quality of theming.

Thanks for all of your replys, we usually stay on property and since this is a just a long weekend with a great rate of $129 a night I thought I would take a chance :D Again thanks for everything I love these boards!!
