Gaylord Palms ICE ... any input?

Has anyone ever been to Gaylord Palms ICE?

We just came across it on another site and wanted to get some input from anyone who has ever gone. It looks pretty neat and we are always looking for something different to see and do while in Disney area on vacation, we just didn't want to spend the money if its not worth it ... thanks for any opinions

I'm interested in going and heard that it's mandatory to wear pants since it's 9 degrees inside.What happens if you're in shorts,you gotta leave and change?

We have not gone. What little I have heard has been positive. But cold and cost just keeps me away.

We did it last year on New Years Eve day and had a wonderful festive day ! It is like nothing we had seen before and felt it was worth it. We purchased our tickets in advance online discounted with ice skating.

From their site: ICE! is kept at a frigid 9 degrees. Be sure to dress appropriately; closed toe shoes and long pants are required. Hooded parkas will be provided for your warmth and comfort inside the exhibit.

We visited a couple of years back, it's something a bit different

DH and I went in 05 for our honeymoon and had a blast. We went early when it first opened in the morning and even got to spend time sliding down the ice slides. Then we wandered around the hotel looking at all the cool stuff. The big blue coats are huge. It was just the right temp for me. Make sure to wear socks and closed toe shoes and long pants and sleeves.

My DD went to a bday party at ICE a few years ago and loved it. The bday mom sent me some pics and it looked like alot of fun. Not sure about the current price but most locals I've talked to say its worth it to go once.

Just went this past weekend. It was really a neat thing to see. We had a nice day at GP. They also had entertainment in the atrium, a gnome hunt and the place is decorated really nice.

We did wait in a really long line to get into ICE, like 1.5 hours. Probably not the brightest idea to go on a Saturday on a holiday weekend.

They give you the parka to wear. We were told you had to wear pants and closed toe shoes, so DH ran to Walmart @@ because he had on shorts and I had on flip flops. But, I saw people go in with shorts and sandles. They had to be freezing and uncomfortable.

It cost us $70.00, two adult admissions, one child and parking.
There is a nice buffet at Flora, it's $28.99 for adults, I forget what the child's price is. But, plentiful and good.

We went this past weekend to the one here in at the Gaylord Texan. It was indeed COLD....and it was really cool to look at. However, they way oversold our time spot and we stood shoulder to shoulder with about three or four hundred other people. We totally missed one room because it was literally wall to wall and couldn't see a thing. Missed the slide because dd5 was too cold to wait another half hour in 9 degree weather just to slide. Dh and dd9 waited. She said the slide was neat, would have liked to do it again but, too many people.
I would say it's something fun to go do once.....make sure you go on an OFF day, or you'll miss something. At the one here they had a couple of t.v. screens outside at the end that showed how they made it...that was very interesting.
