Gay week with tweens

My friend is arriving May 22, first visit for entire their family. Him, her, & 3 kids ages 9, 11, & 13. I have never visited WDW in spring/summer and am unable to tell her when this week is. They are very conservative and I'm afraid they won't enjoy their visit as much if it is during their visit. Sorry to have to ask, but the search feature is turned off today. Has it passed?

If your friend is arriving at WDW on May 22, and departing prior to June 3rd, they will more than likely miss the gathering entirely. You do know that same-sex couples go to WDW all through the year, right? Just as you may see gay folks at your local Wal-mart during any given visit.

My family went during "the week" last year and had no problems at all. Even with my 11 year old son, who comments at everything, usually by grabbing me and going oh my god thats gross, had no issues. He was more excited about Sar Wars WE and seeing Storm troopers walk around, than how other people were acting or behaving.The only thing we stayed away from was the offical day at Magic Kingdom, I did not think it was fair to subject other people enjoying themselves to my 11 year olds possiblility of a comment, last year they posted a site where you could get that specific day, but I don't remember it. We had a great time, always do, and did not notice anything different than any other time of the year that we go..

We've been to WDW twice. Both times were at the end of May (Gay Week). The first time, I had no idea. (didn't have a computer back then and was clueless) Last year dh and ds16 saw two girls in the swimming pool (pda) (not many people were out and about at that time either). Other than that one time we saw nothing unusual in the parks or at our restorts (Sports and AKL) So, I wouldn't worry about it and just have a magical time.

With my friends family pda's with hetero couples makes them uncomfortable. It is who they are. I didn't learn about all of their hang ups until it was too late. Working on teaching them to appreciate people for their individualism.

They may not be comfortable. Amusement parks (including Disney) seem to be the place to watch teenagers crawl all over each other, girls dressed like Brittney Spears with their boyfriends hands in their back pockets.

(Give me adult gay men behaving like adults over hormonal teenagers in the Conjoined Twin stage any day.)

I agree wholeheartedly, crisi! Hetero, bi or straight, overt exhibitionism doesn't really belong in a family park or resort - "get a room!!!" The gay people I know are just regular folks who want to travel and have fun with the people they care most about. I don't like paraders or showboats of any orientation (Yuck, save it for Vegas...)
