Gay Days - How Busy, and Heavy PDA?

they act like every other family that goes to DL....

this, I see more PDA on other days in the park than during Gay Days
I know you didn't want your comment to come off as anit-gay but it kind of does because you are making an assumption that the gay people there would act inappropriately or any different than anyone else.

You are more likely to have "the talk" with your kids walking down the street of any common town rather than gay days

I was in DL during Gay Days a few years ago and didn't see (or at least didn't notice) any excessive PDA. Other than a few groups in matching T-shirts, the only thing I saw that reminded me it was Gay Days was towards the end of the night. A group of gay men had gathered at the top of Main Street and were all in a circle holding hands, with their heads bowed, and saying a prayer together. It was a really nice sight until some miserable excuse for a human being had to walk by and tell his child, in a loud voice, "Don't get too close. You might catch something". :sad2:

A friend who is a local to DL warned me that there was a lot of PDA during Gay Days and even that I shouldnt come down at that time, then I heard an episode on the Mousetalgia Podcast that pretty much said that unless you are outright offended by that choice of lifestyle, all you really notice is a lot of red shirts. We're booked and can't wait wait!

I don't think the OP meant any harm. May have chosen the wrong way to put it, but not intentionally harmful, actually sounded like she was trying to be sensitive about the situation/question.

What a *******.

Edited since I forgot about profanity filters!

What I meant to say was: that man is a prime example of a terrible waste of oxygen and what a terrible thing to pass on to your child, such hatred.

This will be my first trip and read this thread just because I was curious to read what the tenor of the responses would be. I was heartened to read how accepting and tolerant the responses posted were.

Whenever my son talks about getting married someday we use male and female to refer to his potential future spouse like either would be a normal choice.

Thank you -- I fully expect to have a fabulous time. There seems to be a mix here of those who "got" my question and those who misread it, whether from my poorly worded post or from a knee jerk reaction to what was perceived as an intolerant question...?
Bottom line is, my kids' naivete is more important than your opinion of me. FWIW they fully understand that you love who you love and love is grand.
Not to imply gay is deviant but wouldn't you be concerned if there was really any days that referred to sexual activity of any type? How about "losing my virginity days" or "morning after days"? "Oral days"? "S&M days", "Friends with benefits days"?

It's just that it's sexual and it's Disneyland.
Ha it crossed my mind that if 50 Shades Day ever comes around we may skip that one :)

This example of hatred would be the worst thing to have to explain (after I explain why it's OK for Mommy to Freak Out on a stranger if he's being a grade A ***.)

I can't believe the OP got such flack for posting a reasonable question. :crazy2:

It is no different that the question that would have been asked IF the Op had been planning a trip during spring break.

BTW, If you don't think the question was valid, read this thread!

Something happened to us on a trip during Gay Days several years ago. We were staying at the GCH and my husband had gone back to the room late at night to get something and was going to be heading down to Downtown Disney after that. He went to get on the elevator and low and behold, a couple of guys naked as a jaybird, and a couple others in the elevator with the red shirts for Gay Days on. Needless to say he took the next elevator. We reported it asap.

Honestly, anything can happen anytime, gay, straight...it does not matter. There are lots of things that your children could see and you might not even notice, just due to the volume of the crowds alone. I would just be prepared with some answers just incase.
