Gators at WDW

You can see gators (small ones anyway) on the Living with the Land ride at Epcot.

maybe have your husband go parasailing or water skiing( think you can water ski, maybe not) and dangle a dead chicken from his leg..he might see one then :) and save you the gatorland expedition[/QUOTE]

In June there was one in the lake at CSR. Looked to be about 4 - 4.5 feet long. We'll be back there the first week of September, and am wondering if it is still there, or if it has been removed.

I took this picture at AK and I believe it was on the safari and they said they were Alligators

HTH :goodvibes

Just wanted to say this, although you did not say it was your DH's intent: DO NOT FEED THE GATORS!!!

That is one of the ways that wild alligators lose their fear of man. The alligator begins to associate humans with food and that usually leads to "gator attacks child" stories. Sorry to get on a soapbox, but I had neighbors once when I lived on the Mississippi gulf coast who would feed alligators in the canals.

Tell you husband to go to Gatorland, the place is great. If you were anywhere near Houston on your trip I'd invite him on a trip to the marsh with me and I could show himm all the gators he ever wanted to see. I have one living in the creek right behind our neighborhood and another one that hangs out on the golf course I play at all the time. A good friend of mine drew a permit to take a gator during the season this year and I'll be going with him "gator hunting" this year. We could really give him an up close and personal view of one if he wanted.

Would you and your dh be willing to split up for a morning/afternoon one day? If there's something you want to do that he doesn't, let him go to Gatorland on his own, and you can do something you enjoy, whether it's a park, a massage, or just laying by the pool with a good book. :cloud9:

Personally, I'd love a few hours to myself when on vacation. Not that I don't enjoy spending time with my dh, of course, but I like my alone time, too.

Some of the posters have said the OP was being selfish for not wanting to go to Gatorland. Some people have a real fear of alligators and she may be one of them. She didn't really say.

Now, if that isn't the case...if you just think it will be a waste of time and you are afraid it will not be enjoyable...Don't Worry! Gatorland is a lot of fun and very enjoyable!

If you are afraid, do as AnaheimGirl says and split up. He can head off to Gatorland, you can do something he doesn't really want to do.

As for seeing alligators, we saw one walking up the side of the road going to the All-Stars once. He was pretty large, too. It was raining really hard and it was dark.

Well she did say she would rather spend the day with mickey instead of gators, which to me means no fear just doesn't want to do things her husband wants to.

If I wanted to see gators, I'd watch a Steve Irwin show on TV

(yes, I know he plays with Crocs rather than gators, but who cares about the difference other than another gator? ;))

Keep your eyes peeled. I once saw on in the lake around Tom Sawyer Island. It was maybe 4 feet.

You might be able to see a wild alligator almost anywhere there is water in Florida. However, if you want to see a show, or get up close and personal, then Gatorland is the place to go. I don't think there are gators on exhibit in AK, I could be wrong as it's not my favorite park.

How far (time & mileage) is "gatorland" from WDW?

Here are 2 pictures of the gator we saw in the Magic Kingdom last summer. It was near Tom Sawyer's Island. We have seen gators in that area on 2 different trips. We look on every trip! :)

WOW!! I always thought there's no gators in Disney, boy was I an idiot. I thought if one was around they would remove it, part of me is a little nervous but the other part hopes to catch a glimpse on our next trip!!! In NJ we only have deer and bears in our backyards. :paw: :paw:

Where is PandyPaws when we need her?

Ok, compromise. Go to congo river mini golf on I-drive. That way you can play mini golf and he can see the baby gators and pay a buck or so to "feed" them with a makeshift fishing pole and hot dog. It's actually pretty fun.
