I wouldn't classify this as a Trip Report. I can hardly read that much info much less write it. But I thought I'd drop some pics and some observations of the week before Thanksgiving. It really was a great trip - 6 full days in the parks and 1 partial on Sunday. Edit: Super star sighting below!

First, you may have read about the unbelievable line to get in last Monday. Streching from the DL gate to nearly the DCA gate. It was madness. Like I said before, the secret is out....mid-November is no longer a secret.

We have made a habit of staying at the HoJo on our November trips. With big rooms and views of the park from the superior rooms, we wanted to do this again. This was the first time that the stay here wasn't great or good. More like average. When I pay for a room with a view, I expect a view. When we got to our room, it was nothing but trees. So I called to switch rooms. The only other room available had a partial view thanks to more giant trees, but this one didn't have the second sink, so that was a bummer. Plus we had hot water troubles all week - even after we called about it. Pretty disappointed this time around. Not even picture worthy views for this post.

We had some friends stay at the Grand Cali and they invited us over for a swim. The kids thought that was the highlight of the trip. As for you adults, that waterslide is not meant for you. I'm just a 160lb dude and that water couldn't push me very far. I got stuck twice on that short little slide. But the atmosphere there was amazing.

The Matterhorn's new seats were surprisingly comfortable. I found that as long as I leaned forward with hands on the bars, it didn't hurt like it used to. So bravo to Disney for helping with that.

If you follow me at all, you know that Splash Mt is my favorite ride. So my family and our friends decided we needed to have the "Babe Log" and the "Bro Log". Right when we got on it, they put a father in front of us with his little girl so we were like, "Ah, man. No Bro Log." And then we saw the picture of what he did in front of us and he instantly became part of the "Bro Club". I was able to snap this photo right before Disney took it down. Hehe.

Christmas lighting is amazing as always. Plus they have the fireworks every night during the season. That's one of the reasons I like to go then. I really wish they'd have a nightly firework/night show each night at Disney.

And how about that new Soarin' Around the World! Wow, that was totally awesome. I expected it to be OK or as good as the last one. But from the very first scene, it was incredible. I rode that one a lot.

Tower of Terror....we hit that one a lot, too. Gonna miss Rod Serling.

Has anyone else seen Frozen Live? Good grief, that show is awesome. We were all bummed to lose Aladdin, but this show is great in every way.

I said this in another post: the current Christmas WOC show is the best WOC show ever, IMHO. Just amazing.

We were lucky enough to be there for the first return showing of PtN. We got to sit over near IASW where it first comes out. It was like a rock concert when the music started. We had great seats that we had hung onto all day for the Mickey Birthday Parade, Christmas Parade, and then PtN. Totally worth it. Seeing that parade made my trip. Here's a pic of me and my son laying around waiting for it to start. Enjoying the good life!

One of the best parts, though, was getting to meet Tom Bell from Dis Unplugged and Webmaster MaryJo. We got to talk Disney and the boards and everything! It was really great.

As for dining, we really really really enjoyed Jazz Kitchen. With some Gluten Free offerings, it made my wife happy and me even happier. Great food - can't wait to hit that again. We also had three nights where dinner became ice cream. One of the nights, we got to eat with the famous Chris McP, entertainment manager at Disneyland. Also in the pic is Christiana, entertainment manager for the Dapper Dans and the Pearly Band. It really was an honor to sit down and talk Disney with them. Amazing people.

Overall, this trip was amazing, even though we didn't get to hit Haunted Mansion (I know!). Can't wait to get back and hit all the things I managed to miss on a week long trip.

Nice! We stayed at Hojo too and in a superior room and our view was basically blocked by the trees too. We had to stand as far over to the right as possible to see the fun wheel and Screamin and could barely get a glimpse of the Matterhorn through the pine trees. DH and I were really surprised they don't just cut those trees down, since they totally block the view. We still had a great time. =) And ice cream for dinner is always fantastic! ;)

I think I may have seen you at the Hojo. We came back to swim around 4 or 5 and I saw a blond standing near the Christmas tree waiting for something. I almost asked but I couldn't get my memory to remember exactly what you looked like. And then I froze. Then I went to pool area and froze some more. Well, the kids did while I stayed in the spa. So if that was you, I blew it. But if it wasn't you, then I'm feeling pretty good about myself right now.

As for the room, the first one they showed us was 1713 I think. It was terrible. The next room was tolerable enough to stay. I guess we could've switched out on Monday to a better room, but once we unpack we don't want to do it again.

Almost forgot! We got trapped on Midway Mania for about 20 minutes. We had just finished and were making our way to the loading ramp. Then....The sound went out. The screens went out. The scores were down. We had to walk through the attraction which was interesting. We got a FP which we promptly ran to Radiator Springs Racers because it was 20 minutes until closing. My friends were just around the corner from this pic, so we yelled at each other the whole time. It was actually a lot of fun! Plus, I got to see that I beat my wife's score right before the power went out, so there's that.

I also got to see David Lee Roth from Van Halen (at least, I'm pretty sure). I was walking by and I hear this unmistakable voice talking. Then I looked and I was like WHOA! So I snuck around and grabbed a selfie. Clearly he had busted me, which makes the photo even better!

You should upgrade 1 AP to Signature. You'd get all your pics, plus the slightly higher dining discount. With the parking you could stay further away, like a split stay at Great Wolf and drive to the parks.

Awesome notes! Sounds like such a fun trip! And it's so cool you got to meet so many celebrities from Disney, the Disboards, and even David Lee Roth! Haha, I've often said that I wouldn't recognize a celebrity if we came across one, unless I heard an unmistakable voice! I love that you got busted for your "selfie", too!

Epic Splash Mountain picture, too! You look like a teenager, so I guess that's an indication of a sweet vacation!

Totally agree on the upgrading. We just got back and I upgraded to a signature pass for the first time ever just to get the pictures, dining discount, and parking. I wouldn't recommend staying further away necessarily, but it does open up options when you have your parking covered.

We stayed at HOJO and just got back today. I have always had luck with them in the past, but I was a little disappointed this time. They put us in the smaller buildings, which was fine since that's what we paid for, but I felt like they've let the smaller buildings upkeep slide a bit. The rooms were clean, but there were cracked tiles and fixtures in our room. It's not a deal-breaker or anything, but it definitely felt more motel-ish than it has in the past.

I love your Splash Mountain picture. That guy had to have been quite the character.

Sounds fun! Kinda cool to break down in TSMM. We broke down in haunted mansion and Peter Pan once. DD was terrified in haunted mansion but DH and I loved being able to check everything out.

Doesn't look like David Lee Roth to me but I wasn't there :)

What day, Saturday or Sunday? I am trying to think if I was standing by the tree. I might have been, but only briefly....

We had room 1607. It was the second room after the elevators. We had an ok view of Space Mountain, but the Matterhorn being blocked killed me! LOL. Oh well, still had a great view of the fireworks! =) I thought about asking to change but we were all tired and no one else seemed to care about the view! LOL.

I like this report..... and I have no idea who the 'celebrities' are..... one question, is the Jazz Kitchen as good on the qs side as the ts version? esp/ the gf food?

We actually did that. With all of our trips, we wanted the "photo pass" for each trip....though we've not figured out where some of the photos are. And the extra percentage off the food plus the free parking is helpful. Thanks for the tip, though.

Nice report!

Did your wife get to try the GF Teriyaki bowl?

YES!!! She loved it! It's not often you get good teriyaki on a GF diet. I think that was her favorite tip I gleaned from the boards this year. Thanks!!!

I've only done the beignets on the Express side, and those definitely aren't GF. Super yummy, but not GF. Sorry.

Great Splash photo!

What did you think of the crowd levels last week?
