I have a 3.5 and 1 year old. We have 4 paid for seats. I'd prefer to do the gate check of both of them since we had an issue with a checked stroller on our last trip. I want to bring both my double and an umbrella stroller for the occasions where I don't need the double (since we're going with a large group I'm sure there will be splintering off as well where one person has one child with and vice versa) Plus it will be handy dandy to have an extra "luggage cart" to navigate the airport (JFK) for our layover...so does 2 kids=2 strollers? or are they gonna haul my butt back to the check in counter to check one of my strollers? I know I'm being greedy, but I'm just trying to make my life easier :rolleyes1

It depends. I've seen people check multiple strollers. Technically, the stroller should be an umbrella stroller meaning you would probably have to check the double stroller. Again, I've seen people gate check the double strollers too though. I'd check your airline policy and consider what kind of airplane you'll be traveling on - if it's a small jet, it's likely they won't let you gate check your double due to space.

I've never heard that, I've checked all types of strollers including doubles and have never had a problem. I've checked 2 strollers on more than one occasion.

I have heard that you can only take an umbrella, but I've never seen it in practice...we've flown on a few occasions with my single jogger with no issues, this will be my son's 1st trip and therefor my 1st time with my double jogger...thanks for the input. I'll try for the 2 strollers until someone tells me I can't!

I think the confusion is that on some airlines, depending on the type of plane, you actually can bring the umbrella strollers on to the plane (since they fit in the overhead bins); not just gate check them. It should not be a problem to gate check most other strollers. I'm not sure about the joggers, however.

We've gate checked two maclaren singles and a carseat at the same time and no one said anything.
