Just ran into someone I had not seen in a long time - know this person very casually - anyway, I could tell she had lost weight, so I said, "You look great. You must have lost a lot of weight. Can I ask how you did it?"
So she told me she lost 140 lbs - I thought about 80 by looking at her and she told me she had a gastric bypass last summer. She said she never felt better in her life. This woman looks to me to be in her 60s. (I know her through work). Gastric bypass always seemed so radical to me, it was interesting meeting someone who actually had the operation. She said she still eats little amounts. She looks very shrunken from before if that is an appropriate word. Lots of loose skin though on the arms. Saw another lady, mom of a friend of DDs, who looks like she lost 60 lbs but is quite toned. I keep seeing her walking everywhere - in short shorts!
so I guess we can see how she lost her weight.
It is a funny thing to ask people about weight loss. I am always hesitant because it is almost if I ask that I am implying they were fat and I would never want to offend someone like that. Does that sound weird? It is like I am implying they looked bad before and look great now...but with this lady it was SO dramatic a weight loss there is no way to get around it. I always have mixed emotions when people tell me I look like I have lost weight... part of me feels = great. Part of me thinks I must have REALLY looked like a cow before! Maybe I am just a bit too sensitive about weight issues!!!!
