GAS THEIF! Beware, its a shame really....

Calypso thats a good point about the catalytic converter. Those are also very popular to steal and not cheap to replace!!!

Its sad that we actually have to worry about people stealing the catalytic converter(s) off of our vehicles!!

It has been a huge problem in the Pacific Northwest. Metal thieves are stealing everything they can get their hands one...including bleachers from schools, construction materials, and the lowest of low -- public artwork. So very sad. :(

hey will I fell for pockets with the price of gas around $ 4.40 and the reapir bill for your new gas tank !

Seriously, Will, sorry this happened. It might get my lazy butt to clean out the garage so I can get my 4-wheeling Jeep in there though. It's got a metal tank, so I might know it's getting ripped off when I hear the explosion...kind of a gas stealing alarm system of sorts I suppose.

I've been telling my DH this for months. He just rolls his eyes. I told him months ago that we needed to clean the garage out so we can park our SUV in there....like it's suppose to be. He thinks his tractor and DD's go-cart are more important. :confused3 I fully expect folks to start killing each other over gas. It's scary! Desperate people do crazy things!

I just got back from filling up. $3.99. The pump cut off at $75. Of course, I wasn't able to fill it up but didn't feel like running my credit card through again. I figure it would have cost me right at $100 if I had filled it up all the way.

Sorry you got ripped off, Will. Some people just suck.

As long as we've had garages we have parked our cars in it. The basement and attic are for storage. We haven't had this problem in our neighborhood. You would think though with the size of homes we are in (6000 sq ft including full basement) and most with 3 car garages that people would actually park in their garages, but only about 40% do. Because we have a 3 car garage, our riding lawn mower, snow blower and other tools fit easily, but my DS (22) car is parked in the driveway.

great what is happening to the world?!!!

I don't know but I came home yesterday from picking DS up at school and someone had kicked in 3 of the four panels on my PVC back fence for no reason:furious: . I now have 3 big holes and I'm not sure how it can be fixed without taking the whole fence apart. I'm ready to move to Florida!

I've said that a million times too, but have you ever watched the local news while in your hotel room in Florida? :scared1: Sorry about the fence by the way. :(

I appreciate the heads-up; too bad it had to happen to you. I'd never heard of such a thing. We're moving over the summer and I can only hope until then our car is safe. Good luck with your gas tank, Will. :goodvibes

Boy, I have no idea where I've been - all these "old" threads I'm seeing for the first time! :confused3

cheers,
