Gas Station by the Boardwalk????

I know that there is a gas station/convenience store within walking distance of the Boardwalk, but I have a few, specific questions and I'm hoping someone can help me out...

1) Is it officially now a Speedway? I know it had been Hess but I heard that Hess bought out Speedway and I'm wondering if the changeover has already happened.

2) Realistically, how easy/convenient is it to walk to/from the Boardwalk with grocery items? Are there sidewalks or is this a "proceed at your own risk" kind of walk? We will have 6 able-bodied adults and one reluctant teenager to carry the purchases back to the room.

3) We are looking for a few, specific perishable items. We will need a gallon of milk, cheese slices, eggs and 12-packs of soda. We'd also like to find snacks like string cheese, lunch meat and maybe some fresh fruit. Price is not important, but I need to find out if they even have these items.

We have Speedways up here in Michigan and between all of us in our group, we have enough SpeedyRewards points to redeem for about $100 in merchandise gift cards. On top of that, we have several coupons from MyCokeRewards that are good for free 12-pks of Coke products, so we won't have to "pay" for any groceries that we can purchase from Speedway. I know what the stores up here have to offer, but some stores are huge, while others have a very limited selection. I need to know if the store at Disney will have what we need. In the past, we've ordered from Garden Grocer and had the food delivered, but we've never stayed within walking distance of a store. This time, we are flying SWA so all of our non-perishable groceries (cereal, granola bars, Pop-Tarts, etc) will go in their own suitcase and get checked as luggage. Since we have the SpeedyRewards, it seems foolish to order from Garden Grocer when we can get what we need for free.

1. Yes, I think so. Google Maps is updated, as is Street View.

2. Depends on how many grocery items.

3. Given that you include 12-packs of soda AND a gallon of milk (note: half fit better in the mini fridges), it's a more challenging walk right there.

Also what kind of pop (soda)? Unless something has changed only Coke products. Many go there looking for their Mt Dew fix.

Also last time I saw pics only a small bin with hand fruit like apples and bananas sold by the piece.

Definitely a Speedway, but a small Speedway. It probably has the majority of what you are looking for, but you won't have any type of selection to chose from. The refrigerator section is pretty small and the small selection of fruit they have never looks that great. I found this photo on Yelp - not the best, but it basically is a small store with gas pumps on each side.

I dont know if I would walk with that many groceries. The bananas there the last time were not good at all.

Another option would be the small store on the Boardwalk also.

Boardwalk Inn is co-located with the DVC Boardwalk Villas. You will find the milk, eggs, and possibly cheese, in the provisioning store there on site. So those I wouldn't worry about sherpa-ing from the gas station. I don't know if you will find much by the way of deli meat. You could always just grab a quick uber or taxi from the resort or Downtown Disney to some of the places right there on Vineland ave. (Goodings is open 24 hours)

We are staying in the villas and we have a 1BR and a 2BR so we will have 2, full-size refrigerators, plus a mini-fridge in the lock-off.

Coke products are exactly what we need since we will be using our MyCokeRewards vouchers for free 12-pks. Fruit by the piece is fine...we'd probably want only a couple of pieces anyways.

We certainly aren't picky as far as brands/flavors. If we don't get bananas or apples, I don't think our vacation will be ruined. Sometimes, DH likes to have a piece of fruit and some yogurt for breakfast. If we can't find it for the room, then we can just get it at the resort store. Since we have a TS breakfast booked for 3 out of 7 days, we should be able to get by on cereal, oatmeal, Pop-tarts, pancakes and scrambled eggs. If we can't get a little fruit to go with it, we will survive.

You also can call them. When we have stayed at the Boardwalk, my husband and brother in law always walk over there, it is not an issue. Last time I needed to know if they had Guiness for my dad, otherwise I would order from Garden Grocer, so I called and they were happy to check for me, so try calling and seeing if they have what you need.

I have walked to the Speedway from BWI with no issues. Crossing the street can be challenging, so just be aware of the cars, etc. Without children, you'll be fine. I don't recall seeing 12 packs of cans. I know I bought Coke Zero in bottles (I like to reseal, so didn't look for cans). I love Speedway up here (another Michigander). The store near the BWI is not as small as some Speedways, but is closer to the small side than it is to one of their larger stores.

With that many groceries, I'd order from someplace, like Garden Grocer. It's not a far walk, but it could feel pretty far trying to get heavy items like milk and cases of soda back to your room.

You could take an empty suitcase, fill it up with the goodies and roll it back to the room. Not ideal, but better than trying to carry gallons of milk or case of water/pop back to the room. I do this a lot, from the rental car to the room, after we stock up on groceries atTarget. I just don't know how feasible that is all the way over there and back. Might tear up the wheels on the luggage, going across all that asphalt, which is why I didn't mention it earlier.

I would bring a rolling suitcase. Much easier. I'm not at all sure you're going to be able to find all that you want/need there. I would seriously consider putting a order in with Garden Grocer.
