Gas pump question

We made it to Carmel Church Virginia flying J the first night, going on about the same schedule as you.
And another flying J the next night, cant remember where.

The Flying J's I use from NoVA to WDW are Carmel Church, VA (I95 @ exit 104), Latta, SC (I95 @ exit 181A) and Brunswick, GA (I95 @ exit 29). These locations are spaced out just right for me. If you can make it to the Brunswick, GA location (where we stop) for an overnighter it's less than a 5 hour drive to WDW. On our trip home we overnight at the Kenly, NC location (I95 @ exit 106).

Thanks, I think I will be shooting for the Brunswick location on the way down. Coming home we are doing a few days at Tybee Island and a few in DC and then just driving home from DC.

If you go to http://www.flyingj.com/ you can get an RV discount card, get the exit number of the stations and check the fuel prices.

PS: to get around the $75 limit take your credit card and your RV card inside to the clerk to activate the pump don't stick it into the card reader on the pump

flying j uses conoco gas

Most of the time they use conoco, they do also use shell gas though. DH works for Flying J(is actually on the road this week) he said that all the gas comes out of the same pipelines and is the same, except for whatever additives are put in by the various suppliers. I think I got that right, when he calls tonight I'll double check

Thanks for the info!! However, I just looked at their website and there are no Flying Js even close to where I normally fill up.

My normal fillups are just north of Macon, and near Ocala, (maybe I can use one coming back, but not sure)

There is one in Jackson(exit201), but that is about 50miles or so north of Macon on 75. But unfortunalty none in FL, too bad to, cause the kids and I could tag along on his visits, and stay with my parents in Ocala. Oh well maybe when he goes to his DC area locations we'll go with him.

The last time I used my RV card at flying J I was told in order to get the first level discount of .01 you have to make a $10 purchase inside and food does count. So purchase some Sweet tea and pizza and then fill up and that purchase counts for a month before you have to make another purchase. The more you buy the bigger the discount as well.

After using mostly a VISA card for our gas purchases and sometimes a Speedpass I did get a letter from Speedpass after our trip for me to verify that I used them so far away from home. Also now you have to punch in your zip code at most gas stations when you use a credit card.

And Key West was the BEST! We stayed at Blue Water Key RV resort and although pricey we had our own Tiki Hut and wharf at our site. We plan to go again sometime in the future. New management and the people were oh so nice.

I was told recently that the shut off amount is set by the bank issuing the card. Debit shuts off at $75 for me. If used as Credit, I have had it go well above $100 to fill up. Then again, I have had credit shut me down too, so.........

Just to clarify why the pumps have pre-set cut offs set by the retailer. The banks will only cover losses upto a certain level ie.. $75.00 for the credit purchases. If the retailer decides to set his pumps at a higher cutoff it is at his own risk for fraudulent charges. So as you can see most retailers will cutoff at the $50. to $75 mark.

Have been eyeing Blue Bird mhs with a fuel tank of 300 gallons. That's still nothing compared to yachts. Can you imagine having to get a tanker to pump in 50,000 gallons of fuel. Bet they get a discount.

A very good friend of our father 147 ft. yacht at speed burns 300-500 gal and hour.

My father puts the marine electronics on those things, and no, they don't get a discount. He tells me that they figure if you can afford the boat, you can afford the gas.

My friends father don’t get a discount but he get a tanker and scents it is marine fuel he only pays for fed taxes so it comes out to be about $3.45 a gal.
