Gas prices?

we are driving to Disney in February from NYC. About three months ago it took $50 to fill my gas tank on a minivan. Gas was close to, if not more than $3. Today I filled my van for $30 with gas at $2.13 in NJ.

Is gas cheaper as I go south? I was thinking it could cost as much as $200 for gas to get all the way to Orlando. But now I realize I have no idea how much gas costs the further south we get.

How much is gas in Florida, since we will be using our car daily while we are there?

The gas prices today don't mean that's what they'll be tomorrow, much less in February. If I wanted to budget for gas, I'd assume $3/gallon. Here, gas is $1.87 at one place, two miles south it's $2.19, and 7 miles north it's $2.18. The northern location was $1.89 two days ago. I think if you budget $3, you'll come in under. You can probably get by at $2.50, but I'd prefer some cushion.

That is true. I would much rather save for a $50 fill up than take a chance that gas will be a lot cheaper southward. But was just interested to hear of the different prices. I assumed here in NY was where I would find the most expensive. But then figured I would ask if it was even worse the further south I headed and if I even maybe needed to budget more.

GasBuddy is, of course, a good source.

When I was at WDW in mid-December, gas for me in NJ was about $2.28 and was about $2.15 at the Speedway's inside and outside WDW...so figure about a dime below NJ. Of course, that could always change...

NJ used to be one of the cheaper states for gas till the last gas hike. But even back when the tax was lower I remember a few states south of us being higher and a few lower. Definitely check out gas buddy. Prices along major roadways like 95 may differ from what residents in towns in those states might report.

Good point about major highways and turnpikes being pricier
