Dh happened to mention earlier this evening that gas prices were to go up tomorrow due to the hurricane, so I thought I'd go and gas up tonight. What a shock as I drove by a couple of gas stations to see the prices at $1.32, then $1.36 at another station, already. This was about 9pm.

I thought I'd missed the boat but headed over to a Mac's that often had cheaper gas and cars were lined up to get gas at $1.21! I joined the line and filled up, it didn't take too long at all.

I had quite the lineup at the pumps earlier tonight, too. This weekend is going to be ridiculous at the pumps.

Yep another cash grab by the oil companies in Canada for something that will hardly even be a blip on the radar for Canadian oil companies. They need to reap all the benefits they can from every bit of news that will allow them to hike prices.

Oh wow. I just drove by the gas stations here in my town yesterday and the price had actually dropped. I guess I know where I will be stopping today incase ours increase as well. It was $1.22 down from $1.26.

Here I filled up for $1.24 just about 2 hours ago. there speculation that it's going up to 1.40 tonite! That'll hurt a little!

Here in NB we have regulated pricing. Curently the price changes are supposed to occur on Wednesdays at midnight.

The price of gas today is 1.27. I'm curious to se what change make take place and how it will be explained away.

Rumour here is an increase of 10 cents tomorrow.

It was 1.21-1.23 in London last night and today it is 1.36-1.38.

Harper has to do something about the gouging and price fixing. When Katrina occured, gas went from $0.99/l to around $1.29 because they suffered damage to refineries. We were assured that it would be short term, while they recoup their losses (repair). 3 years later, it remained at least $0.20/l higher, since we were used to it, and they knew they could get it.

Earlier this year the price skyrocketted due to speculation pumping up crude prices........when crude dropped, the prices hardly budged because they claimed there was no connection between the cost of crude and price(then why did the price go up???). Now we are pre-emptively being gouged, because they are shutting down refineries in the gulf, because they might suffer damage.
Last I checked, there are refineries in Alaska, Alberta, BC, NFLD, Sask, Ontario, and 67 other countries not affected by the Atlantic Hurricane season. 20% of the oil used in North America comes from the gulf states, and only a portion of that is now offline. OPEC just threatened to reduce production, due to a glut, yet we experience these prices. Ridiculous!!!!!
