Anybody know if there is gas still avalible around Orlando and the WDW area? Heading down there tomorrow and don't want to get caught short.

Around Orlando, it's pretty scarce. I'll tell you a secret about WDW gas though. They get their fuel (all of it for the entire complex, inluding Rishcard Petty, the MGM Stunt Show, the Illuminations barges, the golf courses, the Hes stations, all of it) from a local fuel dealer. WDW is a VIP customer, one of their biggest. This company normally runs it's trucks to Port Canveral and Tampa and then to the customers daily. They do have a decent stockpile at their place of business as well, and if they can't get fuel from either of the ports, they will be able to continue to service their VIP customers from their reserves. Bottom line, there should continue to be fuel at the Hess stations on property, even if the rest of FL runs dry.

Thanks. I can make to WDW on one tank and will fill up as soon as we get there and I can find gas. Then I will just valet park and use mickey's gas to get around.

It's interesting as the gas prices in WDW are LOWER than elsewhere around town. Wasn't always this way.

That will change as soon as they get their next load.

Prices on Disney property are rising also. They just are a little more reasonable than some other stations.

I got gas at the Hess station across from DTD this morning. There were some pumps that were out (they had those little bag things on them). I did get gas, but I had to wait about 10 minutes. I paid $2.89 a gallon.

Uh, the gas in Orlando isn't scarce. There's only a small handful of stations without gas. You'll have no problems filling up.

The three Hess stations on property (the ONLY stations on property) are priority sites; prices will be going up (the spot price on the NYMEX jumped today) but there is a good supply.

Wrong answer. Of the ten stations I pass to and from work, half had NO GAS, the other half had at least some pumps bagged. Then I went to dinner in CLermont, passed five stations on the way, three had NO GAS, two had some pumps bagged. If that isn't scarce, then I don't know what is...

The stations ran out because of panic BUYING. People with 1/2 or 3/4s of a tank ran out a filled out. So the stations ran out. There is no fuel shortage in Florida.

And you know this sitting in the swamps of Jersey how?

Fuel comes into FL from three ports, Tampa, Canaveral, and Miami. Tampa is the largest of the three. Tampa gets it's fuel from LA. Miami gets about half of it's fuel from LA. So over half of the fuel supply for the state has been temporarily disconnected. The stations can't get deliveries. That is what is causing the shortage. No one I know started to panic buy until pumps were already running dry.

Suit yourself. Tampa does get fuel from across the Gulf (Texas, too). And Ft. Lauderdale gets a ton of fuel from the Virgin Islands.

From today's Orlando Sentinel...........................

"There were about 150 million gallons of gas in Florida ports Thursday ready for delivery and the state's residents and visitors generally use about 23 million gallons a day, Castille said.

In addition, 134 million more gallons are expected to be delivered in the next three days, she said."

It also said..............

" "Because of peoples' concerns, the increase in consumption has been pretty dramatic... That attitude creates part of the problem," said Bush, who spoke Thursday with several mayors and other local officials to ask them to urge people to conserve."

In simpler words, those that are Panic Buying are the ones that are causing any supply difficulties

It's hit or miss in Orlando right now. I was out driving around all day in Southwest Orlando. I was on Disney property and both Hess stations had gas when I drove by...and there were long, long lines.

We are having problems with gas here. However, our shortage is due to LA, MS and AL coming to Pensacola to fill up and people freaking out and topping off their tanks. The refineries are contributing to the situation, but people are making it worse.

I have a friend who works in the oil field and he said, we will be able to get gas. The gas stations near the interstate will get priority and then it will fill in town to local yokels. Please people, do not go in a panic and fillup every quater of a tank or fill up your drums. Please think of your neighbor and only buy gas you need for the moment.

Wrong answer again. I live and work in Orlando, and almost ALL of the stations I passed had plenty of gas. There was even a tanker unloading gas at one of the 7-11's on Kirkman Road. I work in MetroWest and live on the border of Disney property. Trust me, there's plenty of gas. Now Clermont, which isn't TECHNICALLY Orlando, IS running out of gas. My Mom lives there, and she had to come into Orlando to get gas today.

Many stations on West Colonial were out of gas last night. It appears to be a hit or miss thing.

How is the gas situation today? My sister lives in Orlando (near downtown) and she said her local 7-11 ran out of regular unleaded. I am driving up tomorrow to WDW and just want to be prepared. Thanks!
