If I fill up on wdw property and then drive straight to the airport in an economy car, will my tank still show as full. I. Trying to avoid having to get off my mapped route and find a gas station. I don't know my way around at all!

Or....is there an easy spot to fill up on my way that won't get me lost?

We usually rent a standard car from Alamo and fill up at the Hess station near The Boardwalk on Buena Vista Blvd. We drive straight to the MCO and have never had a problem...:)

I filled up at the Hess (now Speedway) in Disney Springs on the way out but I was paranoid (first time ever renting) that I had to fill within the 10 mile area but I didn't want to pay the prices close to the airport soo I filled up then pulled off before the airport and topped off at the 7-11. It took less than a gallon and was the exact same price as the Hess. The 7-11 was easy on/off and only took a couple of minutes for that reassurance should they require the receipt.

I think it might depend on the rental company (how strict they are in terms of mileage between fill-up and return) and how they measure the gas tank (I'd read about electronic metering). I would personally fill up close to MCO to avoid the potential of having to challenge fees assessed after you return the rental if they deem the tank no full. According to Google, WDW to MCO is about 25 miles (give or take), so you're probably looking at at least 0.5 a gallon of usage even with an economy.

Are rental companies even that strict, though? I've never heard companies being so die hard about the car being 100% full if it comes in on 95% full. At Hertz and Enterprise they go by eye and it's based on a 1/4 or 1/8 scale. 4/4 being full and 8/8, too, obviously. Even if the car came in at 7/8, I doubt a rental company would cry foul as that's not a big deal compared to 6/8 or lower.

Some are. They will require you show a gas receipt that's within x miles from the drop off. Depends on the car company.

Some companies say that a receipt may be required for fill within 10 miles of the airport, although we have never been asked to show it in the past.
Generally we fill up the evening before or the morning of our flight and give it a "good fill" (you know, the kind that you do at home when prices are going up and you find a place that is still at the lower price). Get that last couple of dollars in after the pump first clicks off and the 15-20 miles that you may need to drive to the airport wont bring the fuel gauge down below FULL.

They won't call foul where everyone else in the office can hear it clearly. But if you bring the car in at 7/8 and they regard 4/4 as full then they will say you have 3/4 and charge you for 1/4.

If you bring it in a miniscule smidgen below F and they regard 8/8 as full then they will say you have 7/8 and charge you for 1/8.

Gas prices are reasonable at the 4'th or 5'th station north of the airport on Semoran Blvd (Rte 436). If you came in from the south from Rte 417, keep going all the way out the north airport exit which takes you onto Semoran. (The first 2 stations are God-awfully expensive.)

That's very true. Then again, my POV is coming from outside of the world of Disney. Of course they'd be more adamant about gas, duh. *bops self on head*
