Gary the Ibis

Anybody come across that pink Ibis in the New Orleans hotel park thingy in Walt Disney World? I fed him a fry and he was sooo greatful! That is the CUTEST little thing I have ever seen. His name is Gary.

I've seen white ones at wdw and I figured some people wouldn't know what they were, so I posted. your welcome.

I saw him 3 years ago. I don't know how long they lived. He may be gone by now.

he's not really reddish pink he's whitish pink. i don't think anyone knows what I'm talking about.

When you first enter AK, there are scarlet Ibis, the same color as the picture above. The regular ones are whitish, I think there are some in Epcot. Nope, there aren't any in New York. They're coastal birds, found mostly from Virginia south to Florida and west along the Gulf coast down to Houston and into Mexico. We see them all the time here. The pink ones in Florida are the results of ones that have interbreeded-the white Ibis with the scarlet Ibis. Except for AK and Epcot, I don't remember seeing them anywhere else. Sorry, I probably just told you more than you wanted to know about the Ibis, but I'm a birder.

The pink ibis and scarlet ibis are smaller birds with long, downcurved beaks. The pink ibis, introduced into Miami in the 1960s, is a hybrid between the native white ibis and scarlet ibis. Scarlet ibis are a very bright scarlet color and can be distinguished by their long, downcurved beaks. Both the scarlet and the pink ibis have the same structure, size, and black wing tips as the white ibis.

Here's some regular ole white ibises that were in my front yard last winter. These were immature birds and that's why they are mottled.
