Poor guy...he was just awful......He really looked tired and very old. His dad looks in better health....:( His band was good...but boy when Gary sang it was just not very good...He just didn't seem like he was healthy...Hearing the old tunes was great. But I felt really sorry for him tonight..........

That's sad. I loved him when I was a kid. In fact, I still listen to his music sometimes.

He was in our town in the summer of 2002, I believe, for a small park concert. He was very good then and brought back a lot of happy memories. I knew all the words to all of his songs! I guess I shouldn't reveal that!!!;)

TC:cool:

I hate to hear that. I remember my mom singing "Save your heart for me" to me and it's always been my favorite of Gary's songs.

Gary used to live in Cleveland. I'm sorry that I didn't get a chance to see him perform in his heyday.

Oh, Tony, I so agree with you. It was just painful listening to him; I can’t believe he has the nerve to go on tour sounding like that. I wonder if anyone at Disney listens to these people before they sign them up! You’re right, the rest of the band was OK – I liked the other singer and he’s the only reason I didn’t get up and leave. I was pretty disappointed since I really love those concerts and they’re one of the main reasons I always go in May. I really enjoyed Paul Revere though.

Pugs you back home?

Paul Revere was really good. I guess we probably aren't as good as we were 35 years ago either....:p At least he was out their giving it all he had......even if it wasn't much entertainment value.

They still have some great acts coming that I saw last year who are really still very good.

Paul Revere looked like he was about 100, but still sounded good.

Mark Lindsey looked terrific though, and guess what? I saw him at the Swan pool the next day, and ladies, trust me, he was looking extra good in his teeny tiny bathing suit. :p

suit for MEN????????? YIKES...and we always say that some of the people that go to Old Orchard beach wear little bitty witty bathinig suits.....geesh.........why do I miss the good stuff.........

Pum, I'm not sure what Old Orchard Beach is, and what type of clientelle frequents there, but usually when I see men in teeny tiny bathing suits (speedos), they usually are the type that have NO business wearing them.

Not so w/Mark Lindsey. I would guess he is well into his 50's, and he looked goooooooooooood! :p I considered dropping something in front of him so I could get a good looooooooong look, but then I remembered I had my kids with me and thought it best to act like a grown-up (and the woman that is married to their father!) :p :teeth:

and alot of other states frequent OOB.....great tourist trap......one of the most beautiful beaches on the East Coast I have heard.....and I just love to People Watch.....what fun it is......I am sooooo glad that you were a good mommy and wifer .....haha......what fun to be able to still enjoy the looking part anyways

LOL Snoopy...I thought you had some kind of a "condition" while we were watching them. I didn't no you had a "Lindsey" !!!!:p

ROFL at this whole thread!!!

Regarding Old Orchard Beach...DH is banned from there after incidents stemming from his young crazy days. ;)

Yep, Tony, I’m home, and not too happy about it! And, hey, I for one am much better than I was 35 years ago! Snoopy, wasn’t it hard to come back to this rotten weather? I guess I was at the Swan pool on the wrong day – I didn’t see Mark or anyone else worth looking at! Some girls have all the luck.

That's exactly why I never go to concerts of the "oldies" like that. Their voices are just not the same as when they were young.
DH always hates going to the Grand Ol' Opry for that very reason. Even if there are a few performers we WANT to see, there are always a few we have to "grit our teeth and suffer through" just because they think they can still sing after all these years!!

Gary never could sing. The band sounded good because he got the original Playboys back together.

Ever wonder why his concerts never sound like his records?

It's because they've always mixed a studio singer into his vocals on the recordings.

Gary was the first person who had to lip-sync on Ed Sullivan.

How do I know this? Because my brother-in-law (DH's younger bro) toured with Gary as lead guitar back in 1984, and DH's best friend booked Gary's tours.

I don't know about all that Deb.....but I do know the band with him when he was at EPCOT wasn't the original PLayboys. There were 4 guys and not one was over 30.
