I was just looking at the menu for the GardenView tearoom at the Grand Floridian. I thought this would be a great thing for my mom to do with my kids. I just have a few questions. I saw all the tea types but is there just "regular" tea like Liptons? My mom isn't into the herbal or flavored teas. Also, I noticed the kids menu has peanut butter and jelly and other sandwiches served with chocolate milk. My kids actually like tea so can they get the sandwiches and tea instead of chocolate milk. Any help is appreciated.

I am the same way, I am not a fan of flavored or herbal teas, they have a fantastic tea that is the gardenview blend which is just a regular tea, comparable to liptons, It is wonderful and I will usually put a packet of splenda in it and a sugar cube and it is just wonderful, I always get a can to take home with me.....love it.....I am not sure about substituting tea instead of chocolate milk, I know they are wonderful there and will usually accomodate anything, so I would think so...this is one of my favorite things to do at Disney, my mom and I do this every year :thumbsup2

Funny, I've had the same question for a long time. My DD and I would like to go to the tea next visit but we don't like herbal tea. I don't mind earl grey but really just prefer orange pekoe.

You cannot get Liptons, but you can certainly get all sorts of non-herbal teas, like Earl Gray. My daughter had tea rather than any of the children's drinks. We loved it. Hope you enjoy!

I also don't care for Herbal teas. And I'm very tea picky. I don't like Earl Grey or English Breakfast, but I like English Afternoon and Irish Breakfast. I do like the more milder teas like Lipton (which is Orange Pekoe), or Darjeeling, etc. My favorite at the Garden View lounge is the Cassis. It is a mild tea without a strong currant flavor.

I usually order the English Breakfast tea--it is a black tea, unflavored, and has a good jolt of caffeine in it. You can order a plate of tea sandwiches a la carte, as well as various dessert pastries if you choose.

If one of the adults orders an unflavored tea, I would just get extra teacups for the children with that pot (which will save crowding due to multiple teapots on your table), and order the Mrs. Potts Tea for the child-friendly sandwiches. You will be able to freshen your tea with more hot water for your teapot, so there will be lots of tea for all.

I go to tea at least once a year with my mom, usually for mother's day. The cast members are extremely accommodating. We get the Garden view Blend. It's very close to an Orange Pekoe, which is what Lipton actually is.

The tea you are referring to with the pb&j and chocolate milk is the Mrs. Potts Tea. It actually has a variety of tea sandwiches: tuna salad, ham and cheese, peanut butter and jelly on white bread. They do serve it with chocolate milk and a choice of two pastries. It's $10.50

I'm sure that the server would be able to substitute Tea for the chocolate milk. Like I said, they are very accommodating!

1) THERE IS NO SUCH FLAVOR AS ORANGE PEKOE.
2) There never has been.
3) Orange Pekoe is (OP) the cut of the tea leaf and branch, NOT the flavor.
4) This is only one of the "grades" of tea.

Tea Grades: A Short Primer -

These black tea grades are somewhat subjective and can vary from region to region. A couple of things to note: Pekoe is pronounced peck-oh, and there is no orange flavouring in any of these teas. Pekoe is not a floavor, but a grade (don't try to figure it out, just believe it to be true). For the most part, the more initials, the better the tea quality.

Fine Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe (FTGFOP)
. . . extremely high quality TGFOP.

Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe (TGFOP)
. . . similar to GFOP
. . . with an even higher proportion of golden tips

Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe (GFOP)
. . . a higher quality tea
. . . includes the golden tips of the young buds leaves.

Flowery Orange Pekoe (FOP)
. . . similar to OP
. . . used for teas
. . . from the rest of India or other regions.

Orange Pekoe (OP)
. . . A good quality tea
. . . consisting of large leaf pieces
. . . used for teas from Sri Lanka or south India

Broken Orange Pekoe (BOP) Tea
. . . many small or broken pieces of leaves
. . . frequently used in restaurants for pot-brewing

Fannings / Dust
. . . tiny bits and pieces
. . . usually leftovers from processing
. . . commonly found in tea bags

Just as an FYI. Reservations book very quickly as this is a tiny place that is only open a few hours a day. The CM I spoke to said this has become an extremely popular ressie.

This is always the gem of our visits. We've been twice and are planning on going again next trip. Last time we saw a mother/daughter doing tea (all dressed up in their finest...but little girl spent the whole time on a DS and mom on her phone) and then a group of little girls with a single female (birthday party?) where they were all dressed up....so cute! DH and I really enjoy taking our time and relaxing. I prefer to schedule this mid-week as a break from the parks.
The CMs that work their are really accomodating and can reccomend different selections of teas you might like.

Thanks so much for the lesson. You learn something new every day and if not, you're being cheated.
