I want to try the GardenView Tea at GF in 12/07. I am trying to decide what I should order so I am looking for some advice from people who have been there and can give me some suggestions I am wondering if someone can tell me what the English trifle is? What kind of pastries do they serve? How are the strawberries and cream? I really appreciate any information you can share.
Thanks!!!!! :)

We have done afternoon tea every trip; with children & just adults. Usually we get the Buckingham Palace which includes choice of tea(Last time I tried Mad Hatter & loved it, have also tried the Gardenview blend as well as more traditional English breakfast) the tea sandwiches will vary, but usually have cucumber, egg, some type of meat spread. I think you get 4, ask & if there is a type you don't like, they will substitute, the jam tarts are berry, scones with devonshire cream & strawberry jam are the best & the strawberries & cream have always been fantastic. We don't usually get the pastries because we've already had the scones & jam tarts. If we go early, we use this as late lunch, if we go late, its dinner with just a snack later in evening. Enjoy.

I love the afternoon tea! I will be doing it at the end of the month again.

I always get the Sally Lunn tea now with the Cinnamon Spice pot of tea (I actually drink the latter at home every day, I buy it by the pound from Harney). That includes the AWSOME trifle, and the Sally Lunn Bread - the latter is sort of like a pound cake.

A trifle has like...sponge cake, fruit, a pudding/custard, etc. It is AMAZING! Yum. :) I'll probably do a report on it for my site too, though it isn't a healthy experience for me (I'll just have a healthy lunch). :)

They may still have the lemon cake, it is VERY lemony - like so tart you could squeeze a lemon out of it. The cake was piled thick with unsweetened whipped cream. My husband loves lemon, but it was almost too much for him!

DD and DW love the Scones and Jam Tarts.
I go a completely different route and order the Stilton Cheese and Marinated Fresh Berries plate w sometimes a glass of Port or a serving of Trifle. Not everyones Cup of Tea, but it makes for a nice filling late lunch here.

The trifle is amazing - you should really try it once, because it was one of the best desserts I've ever had!

I love afternoon tea at the Garden View.

Thanks for the great responses. I am really looking forward to going to the Gardenview Afternoon tea.You all have given me some great suggestions and I have decided I want one of everything.:rotfl:

How exciting to see some interaction about the Afternoon Tea. My friend and I are going to do it in September - I just haven't made the reservation yet because I don't have all my ADRs set for the Free Dining . . . AGH!

The Tea looks like so much fun and relaxing. We are going to go all out and get the whole enchilada . . . (or I should say the whole Tea effect:thumbsup2 )

Does anyone know the hours for the afternoon tea? I am seeing different time on different website. One website says 12:30-4 another says 2-6 pm.
Can anyone clarify the times for me?
Thanks!!!!:)

My husband LOVED the pastry swan filled with strawberry mousse. He still talks about it (we went November/December 2006). Our server made several suggestions regarding what to order, and all of her suggestions turned out to be delicious! During tea, a bride and her bridal party were having their pictures taken outside--it was fun to watch!

I made reservations today for the Gardenview Lounge Tea for 6/1. I'm really looking forward to it. Allears.net lists the times for it as 2-4:30. DH and I have a PS for 2:20, which was the earliest we could get.

I read on an old Allears.net review that one can order the Grand Tea with a chilled glass of sparkling apple cider instead of the sparkling wine and get a better variety of sandwiches/pastries. I'm thinking of trying that.

Another tip I read said that if you've got two people going, each can order a different tea and that there's enough to share. If you run out of tea in a pot, you can ask for a refill with hot water at no charge and still get plenty of tea flavor.

The cinnamon tea seems to be getting rave reviews everywhere I've read, along with the trifle. Looking forward to trying both.

Hello.
I am trying to think of something special to do for my mom and her husband while we're there in August and this sounds so nice.
I am not sure if its for her though, as she isnt the biggest tea drinker.
For those who have been, would it be a total waste for someone who could do w/o the tea?
She helps so much with our 2 little ones while we're in Disney that a few hours w/o us would probably sound like a treat to her:rotfl:
Thanks in advance.

Oh, definitely send her! They have lots of other things to drink on offer - coffee, cappucino, espresso, juices, soft drinks, milk; as well as beers, ales, and sparkling wines. Even if she doesn't have tea, she can still enjoy the lovely things to eat, as well as the beautiful and very relaxing surroundings.

My husband isn't as big into tea - he did have a pot, but he also had a Coke and a piece of lemon cake. You can get wine as well. :)

I wasn't big into tea until I had the Harney Cinnamon Spice at the GF. Now I'm hooked (I drink it at home every day). I would recommend that for anyone who loves cinnamon (like I do!)

I made a reservation for myself and my daughter, its her 14th birthday. While my husband swims with the boys I will take her for some tea. We got a 2:00 reservation.

Does anyone know if they run the tea on Christmas Day? We'd like to do it as a special treat this December.
