I just made a dinner dining reservation for my family at Garden Grove, this is my first visit to Disney and was wondering if this was a good choice for a character dinner.

Do you mean the Garden Grill in Epcot? If so, Yes! It a great choice.:thumbsup2 We had great character interaction (Chip & Dale came twice!) and the food is amazing! All fresh ingredients from the Living with the Land area! To me, it felt very cozy as well.

The Garden Grove is a character meal at the Swan/Dolphin Hotels.

I have not eaten here so cannot comment on it. :)

Do a search of Garden Grove under Disney restaurants...lots of comments and most of them VERY positive!!

Garden Grove at the Swan is an excellent non park choice for character meals. We've not seen it more than 50% full at breakfast, and less than that at dinner. The characters aren't rushed, like happens at Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey's, and we usually get them coming around at least 3 times during a meal.
The food is good (breakfast is best bet IMHO), and the character interaction is top notch and plentiful. Be sure to take your camera.

we love Garden Grove but look at the menu because they serve different types of foods different nights. Mediteranean on fridays and the other nights alternate from seafood and BBQ i believe. check out the menu on Swans website.

Garden Grove is also excellent if you like the Lion King. On Monday/Friday nights, the characters are Timon & Rafiki.

Thank you everyone for all your helpful information, we are really excited about our first trip to Disney World!!!

We went on the Southern BBQ and it was good. The desserts and breads were fabulous. We will go back.

I was able to get a $25 restaurant.com gift certificate for Garden Grove. I am not sure if it is available to use for all meals there but that is something to think about to save some money. (I got it for $2 when I clicked the link on Mousesavers website.) Maybe just call the restaurant to make sure you can use it for any night. I forget what the fine print stated but it was something along the lines of not able to be used for special events...Does a character meal count as a "special event"? and which nights are character meals? or is that every night?

Since the certificates do not expire, I got 2 of them for whenever our next trip is. (Most likely next April, although I have not booked it yet.)
