Anyone ever get a Garden Grocer delivery at the cabins? We'll be on the dining plan, so we won't need much. Just water (going in August!) and and a few other things. Thanks!:cool1:

Yes, many people have. They do deliver to the cabins.

One note - we asked for delivery during a specific time period, which is required when you place the order. We arrived in our cabin more than an hour before that time, and not only had our order been delivered, it was put away.

I don't know who put it away, but I do know that I wasn't too happy that the potential for spoilage existed. I suspect bell services got the order and put it in our cabin when they realized we had a lot of stuff that would spoil/melt/rot.

For that reason alone I am not going to use them again next month. However, they also purchased some incorrect items and I had trouble getting in touch with them so I just kept the stuff. Not a real big deal, but our order was large, and I certainly expected a bit more care on their part.

We're going to try wegoshop.com this time.

Now see for me, I was THRILLED it had been already taken to and put away in the cabin. I'd actually called and asked if that could be the case the fort had said no, we'd get it at check in. Which I was dreading. Getting to the fort at midnight, all 6 of us, 3 boxes I'd had shipped down AND dealing with the groceries? Ugh! We were on west coast time, would be starving and not a restaurant in the world was still open so I needed those there when we got there. I loved the fact that they called me that day to tell me it had been delivered even though it was earlier than the window I'd asked for. It was nice getting on the plane knowing my dinner was there!

Sadly they only put the food perishables away, they did not put any of the drinks in the fridge which would have been really nice. But still, it was more than I was expecting. I had one error and truthfully it may have been mine. I keep meaning to check but haven't. I will use them again. For me, from the west coast, all the stores there are different so to try and put together a list for wego seemed WAY too much work. Plus GG would deliver beer and wine without my being there to sign for it. Wego will not. For us, arriving at midnight, GG was perfect.

I ordered too much as we were on the DP but that was my fault too and I had a feeling I was doing it at the time! I will say the fruit quality was really really good!

Ah... you had communication. We got nothing. Nada. Zilch. They had our cell numbers and arrival time.

We were schedule for a delivery between 4pm & 6pm, arrived at 2:30 pm and it was already in the cabin waiting for us... and it had mistakes. And I couldn't get through to them.

I decided my vacation time was worth far more than the mistake so I didn't bother trying them after our arrival day.

But if it worked for you, great. We're going elsewhere this time :)

How did GG (or FW, depending on who did it) know which cabin to put your groceries in? Did you check in ahead of time? That is something new since our last trip so I don't know how that works. I know it may not be a perfect service, but having groceries waiting for us sounds wonderful. I thought about doing wegoshop last time, but the fact of having to be there to receive wine or beer made it not nearly so convenient, so we just went to the store on our way in.

I received a call about 3 days before with my final balance. I'd added more cocoa (which I didn't need but hey, it fit in a ziploc and came home) plus my beer and wine total. They let me know specifically what they'd picked up on the beer and wine as being rather picky and not knowing what was in the stores down there, I'd sent a rather lengthy list of options!

I then received a call one day before letting me know they'd purchased everything.

Then that day, a call saying they had delivered it.

They were good with email communication, I had emailed about the cocoa add on. I'd also emailed as I thought I'd get free delivery since the beer and wine put me over the "free" delivery limit but apparently that didn't count. Darn. The one error was actually mine. How one could check "frozen turkey with meatballs" or something equally as weird when what I wanted was fresh turkey breast is beyond me but I did check tonight and the error was mine.

One funny thing, we are making dinner at 12:30 and I can't find the mayo for sandwhiches and am all annoyed as I have no turkey breast and no mayo. DUH! I PACKED the mayo as we had extra at home that was full fat mayo in a squeeze bottle that I figured I could take, leave there, and not care as it is not what we usually buy!

I found it the next day.

I was not expecting it at all. I had called the fort (when making my loop request) and asked if it could be brought to the room and they said no as they said they couldn't put anything in there until I actually checked in. I had hoped online check in would be up and running in time but it wasn't. When I asked about changing loops at check in they assured me that if we did, they'd move the groceries for us.

It was SO nice having them there. Nicer if the beer had been in the fridge lol! But hey, the freezer did a decent job. Typically we rent condo's on our vacations and are always running to the store on day 1 to stock up. And yes, while I'd probably have bought less and saved some, NOT having to do that was a gift and really made it feel like a vacation. I will absolutely use them again. We may have to expand to 2 cabins though...it was tight with 6 and 2 of those being a tween and a teen (a big teen! taller than DH!)

I have no clue :) Seriously. I don't know if it was GG or the bellman who put away the groceries. In hindsight, I guess I should have asked.

I would assume they preassigned us to a cabin and that's where they put our stuff. I'm glad I didn't question the location or ask to change location when I arrived, as I sometimes do.

Don't get me wrong, it was great having them delivered, but I would have preferred to be there to accept them. I don't know how long the meat was out of the fridge, etc. and it made me nervous.

We don't generally order wine or beer so having to be there for it isn't an issue. It's also not a big deal for us to stop at a store for them - it's doing a full grocery shopping I would rather not do on vacation :)

I didn't get a single word from them except an email acknowledgement when I added and removed items. I couldn't even get a final total out of them. Because of the changes I was expecting a little money back and when I asked they said I would get it with the order. I got nothing.

The item that was wrong was clearly very wrong - it wasn't my mistake - it was theirs.

So, while I had to pay for my order well in advance, and they insist on getting the orders early to hold your spot, I don't know how much I actually spent.

Wegoshop is holding our time and we'll pay them when we get the groceries.

We've used them twice before and I really like how they do things, so we'll be using them again. Garden Grocer seems to be the more well known company but I like Wegoshop for the fact that they deliver the groceries to me, in person, receipt in hand. There's no question of what they spent on your behalf, and your total bill is the receipt total plus the delivery fee & tip. We went with them at first because they're cheaper but we keep using them because we're pleased with their service.
