I was hoping that we could dine at the Garden Grille in Epcot on our first night at WDW in May, but it is closed until June. So, any other options for us in Epcot? Something that would easily accomodate a family of four (dad, mom, DD5 and DD2) who may be tired from a long day of traveling and just want a fun and casual place to dine and not worry about pretenses and manners.

FWIW -- We've already made dinner ressies at Chef Mickey's later on in the week. I know a lot of you go there on your first night, but we're saving that for our daughter's 3rd birthday. And we've decided to hit Epcot that first afternoon (we get into town around 10-11 am) since we would like to start off slowly, after having driven through the night, and Epcot seems like a nice, relaxing pace for a Saturday evening.

TIA!!!

the problem with epcot food is that there just isn't much with the land closed. is the food court closed as well at the land? (i assume)

someplace in world showcase that doesn't get much attention (at least we haven't noticed) is norway's Restaurant Akershus. but even they are changing their program to a character meal. it was a nice calm restaurant the last time we were there.

maybe go to the boardwalk? just not many options that don't involve $22 spaghettii at epcot.

good luck.

We are going to Epcot our first afternoon and evening, and are just going to hop on the monorail and go back to the Poly to OHana for dinner. Its a fun family place where you certainly don't have to worry about pretenses!

We're going to try the San Angel for our first night in Epcot. We wanted Garden Grill but as you said it is closed.

The UC suggested the Coral Reef (we're not much on seafood), Biergarten and San Angel for sit downs with children in Epcot.

I remember seeing the restaurant when we were riding the El Rio del Tiempo a couple of years ago and thinking it looked like fun. My kids love tacos and quesedillas so we thought we'd try it. I heard it's kind of pricey for Mexican but we're on the meal plan.

Good luck choosing.

When in June is it supposed to open?
CAn you provide a link to your info-all I know is that the Land pavilion is supposed to reopen in April

I don't have a link. I found out when I tried to make a PS for Garden Grill and a CM told me that it was closed for renovations until June 25. I thought the land was opening in April also, but not the restaurant evidently.

I, too, only found out when I tried to make a PS for our trip in May. The CM told me that it was closed and not scheduled to open until June.

If you are spending most of the afternoon at Epcot I would suggest trying SAI, R&C or Morocco with your kids. I think the food at those is pretty kid friendly and not stuffy. Another thought is to take a break from Epcot and go to ESPN on the BW.
