Trying to decide whether or not to try the Garden Grill Rest. in Epcot. I will be dining w/ my dd(6) and mom(71). Any suggestions or should I try another restaurant w/in the World Showcase? :thanks:

I think that one of the best parts of Epcot is being able to try different cuisines. If you still wanted to do a character meal, you could eat at Akershus.

We really like GG and have been going there for years. We didn't care for the menu change "experiment" they did a few years back but were glad when they went back to the old format.

The food is always very fresh and plentiful. You'll never leave hungry. The character interaction is always good. They spend some time there with you. Chip n Dale like to color with DD, sometimes they draw their own pictures...LOL, depends on their mood that day (or if they just had all their nuts!:lmao: )

Service is usually pretty good. Sometimes there's a pretty good lull between the times the server visits your table. But, the food has always been very tasty. It's a fun place and probably one of the best sit downs in ALL of Epcot. We're not all that crazy about the restaurants in the WS, they're not as good as they once were.

My dd (5) loved it - requested we eat there next trip. It was fun.

Garden Grill is a favorite on mine. I have fond memories of eating there as a kid with my family. DH and I ate there on our last trip in 2006 and we both enjoyed it, the food was good and the character interaction was great. :)

We all enjoy the GG, which is saying something w/my picky bunch!! My family is VERY picky, and hard to get to try something new...what we tried in the countries was a couple of QS meals from different countries, and sampled from each...this allowed some experimentation without feeling like an entire sit-down meal was wasted!!

::yes::

It was my least favorite character meal ever, and there are so many good restaurants close by in the World Showcase.
JMHO.

We went for lunch in December & loved the food & the character interaction. The waitress was just ok, but the characters were lots of fun-even though it was just us 2 adults.

If you do go to GG, request a table on the lower floor not the upper. We were just there and when they seat you on the upper part, you can't see much and it totally changes the experience.

We like the character interaction at GG. We also did Akershus and it was really nasty food. Plus, it was only the princesses and my son wasn't really loving that too much.

I think that was part of my problem - we had a rotating view of "the sky" not "the land".

My ds9 and I went to the world in November, and we're heading back in June. I asked what chartacter meal he wanted, and he choose Garden Grill over Chef Mickey's!!!

GG is a must for us because DD5 loves Chip and Dale. Does anyone else have an opinion on where to be seated??

I would definitely give GG a try. We didn't particularly like it when we ate there this past year, but it wasn't a bad experience either. We thought the food was average at best and our server was not the greatest either. However, the character interaction was very good - absolutely no complaints there. We aren't returning to GG this year & will try something different. However, it seems like many other people like GG (including some relatives of mine) and I don't think you would have a bad experience there.

We haven't been since they had the "Character Ice Cream Social" there in 2004.
I remember the character interaction was great there.
