We are on the dining plan 2 adults 2 kids. We are eating at LeCellier one night and have ADV for Garden Grill on another. I've heard bad things about Coral Reef but some good too but not too much about Garden Grill. Which would you choose between the two since price isn't an object with the dining plan?

Coral Reef is one of the finest 1 TS restaurants at WDW, while Garden Grill is a decent, moderately-priced, pre-plated/family-style, character meal restaurant. They aren't really comparable to each other in practically any way, even though, on the dining plan, they're the same price. Folks clearly get a much better financial value at Coral Reef, but if they don't appreciate the cuisine, don't appreciate the venue, don't appreciate the artistry that comes from the kitchen, and don't appreciate the more refined service, then it won't be a better value for them.

Slight correction. Garden Grill isnt a buffet.

We havent been to Coral Reef but would like to

Garden Grill is also a character meal, if that is a factor for you.

Yes, thanks for the correction. That's what I meant. :) We were just there a couple of months ago... it's a fixed menu, pre-plated and served family style (so you don't order individual meals from a menu).

I haven't dined at either in years but while I liked the rotating restraunt, the fish kept the chiuldren enterained better, although when I was at the land it wasn't a character meal so that willhold the children's attention too, if they are into characters. I enjoyed the atmosphere of both.

We had a table for two at Coral Reef directly next to the aquarium, and it was AWESOME! The giant sea turtle swam right past us! It's a nice atmosphere and the cuisine was pretty good. I had the crab cakes which were yummy. It's a must-do if you are with little ones that like fish/sea life.

I would go for the Coral Reef and get your character fill else where. CR offers different kind of dining experience for the kids - Its not too often that you get to have dinner in an aquarium.

We've had dinner at both restaurants. The Garden Grill is served family style and the food is actually pretty good. It's a character meal which the kids would probably enjoy. The atmosphere at the Coral Reef is beautiful. However, I wasn't overly impressed with the food. But, like a previous person posted, how often do you get to eat dinner in an aquarium? We prefer Fulton's Crab House at DTD, the food is excellent. However, I don't think it's covered under the dining plan.

I'm in the same boat. I originally made an ADR for Garden Grill. We've been there before and the food and character interaction are both great. Now that Coral Reef is down to 1 TS credit, I'd like to try it, but DD5 loves Garden Grill. I decided to keep GG since that is what DD decided and this trip is for her birthday, so I am letting her call the shots.
