we are 90 days out and i was not able to get many of the reservations i wanted:( so, in order to at least have some reservations in place i reserved the garden grill (we will have a one year old with us so thought maybe the character interaction would be fun)
is the food good?!!!
thanks!

This is my family's favourite character dining. Because you are in a comfy booth facing out as the dining room rotates you are not staring at the same people next to you the whole time, and when the characters come around you feel like they are only there to see you. They often sit down in our booth with us, colour with the kids and do not seem in a hurry to rush on to the next table. Good photo opportunities, without other anxious children and parents waiting in the background. The food always seems very fresh and is served family style, so no getting up to a buffet. It is nice to have a relaxing comfortable break from the hustle and bustle of the parks.:thumbsup2

We just ate there on tuesday and everything was delicious! Our waitress was really nice and the characters were great. My 19 year old daughter always asks to go here!

We love the Garden Grill and plan on going again in September. Of the character meals, it is the most relaxed environment. The character interaction is great and so is the food. There wasn't anything that was served that I didn't enjoy. I don't think that you will be disappointed.

We love GG!!!

You'll love the food, at least for us, we've always had fresh veggies (great potatoes) and really good catfish and flanked steak.

Its not a big restaurant so the characters will drop by more than once, that's for sure!

I am so glad to read the great reviews about GG. We are going down in December and wanted to do a character meal that we have never done before, and since Chip and Dale come out (my DD8 favorite characters) it made the decision a little easier :goodvibes

Your one-year old will love the characters. We did 4 or 5 character meals last trip and GG had the best characters by far. They were so fun and energetic.

No catfish any more earlier this month, we were very disappointed in the food after really loving it. No mash, 1 sugar snap and sliced squash and Mahi Mahi fish very underwhelmed with this meal.

We will be making our ADR's this Sunday but this is one of our backup restaurants. I ate here years ago when it was just dd25 and myself. Can you order the turkey without the cranberry sauce? Our family loves turkey, but once that cranberry stuff goes on top, no one would touch it.

this is my fav place to eat at disney. it is cool that they grow some of the food and like others have said...it is a relaxing character meal as opposed to some of the buffet ones i have been to

Glad to hear the good reviews. Booked today at the GG for Thanksgiving day. The CM said that was a good choice, since it's family style--and they normally serve turkey anyways. It will be nice to have a relaxing sit down meal. I tried to make lunch reservations, but was told that they only serve dinner. (i could have swore they also served lunch??) Oh well, hopefully it will be enjoyable.

Love, love, love the Garden Grill food! Character interaction is great too. I have a 4 and 6-year-old and we've been a few times in the last 3 years to the Garden Grill and they always eat there! The kids meals are good there too...plus they get to decorate their own cupcake!

Just booked this tonight for 11/24. Wow, is anyone else surprised at how hard ADRs are to come by thanks to free dining (which we do not have)? I actually switched YSfor this since I"m thinking we won't want to eat quite so heavily (DH and I have been dieting, This way we will have some variety and 'Ohana and Cape May were not available). I had forgotten that it was a Character meal, the girls are 12 & 14 now so this may be out last character meal!

Don't you imagine it has a lot to do with it being Thanksgiving week, too? :confused3 I know free dining fills up the restaurants, but being one of the busiest weeks of the year would impact it too, I would think.

We eat here 8/8/09 and it was the worse meal we had in the 6 times we have here. The catfish is no longer on the menu:eek:. 6 new potatoes, 1 sugar pea & sliced squash were served as the fresh vegetables for 3 adults. It will be a long time before we go back again.

Did you ask for more? My understanding is that they will replenish as requested the way they do at Liberty Tree Tavern

Yeah, they do replenish and usually very good about it.

Barry, so sorry about your experience, its not usually like that.

Yes we did , but we were made to feel uncomfortable for asking for more. the server said that they have changed from catfish because people didn't like it. The best thing about the meal was the dessert.
