I was so surprised recently when went to Garden Grill for lunch.

one of the chef's came out to discuss with me allergy to strawberries.

I asked her about anything Gluten Free, and if had to make prior requests (before arriving to eat).

She informed they have Gluten Free bread/rolls and no need for prior arrangments. She stated they were there and could be ready on the spot.

Anyway, she brought out a plate of three gluten free rolls. I must say they were wonderful, soft not hard like other GF breads I have tried.

I believe she said you can get a GF brownie. Order the roast and turkey with the sauces and those are GF as well.

I was excited to be able to get GF breads on the spot without having to inform days before. And really they tasted good and very satisfying.

Sounds good enough to eat!

I agree with videogal1. It does make me hungry.

I think some of the things (like gluten free) are seen quite a bit in WDW restaurants. Even if it's less than 1% of customers, they do such a large volume, it would end up being a lot of people by the end of a month.

Did the CMs at the Garden Grill mention if the GF items were also CF (casein free - dairy free??). My son is on a GF/CF diet and we'll be there weekend of May 5th. Really need some tips on specific items/restaurants, etc. His needs have to be both gluten free and casein (dairy) free. :) Thanks!!

My DS has severe dairy allergy. There is very little that he can eat at the counter service that he will eat (very very picky eater- basically he is a carbotarian, but a picky carbotarian). The sit down's are great though at finding something that he can and will eat. We normally use wegoshop and get a lot of his "foods" to bring into the parks with us. He basically eats healthy snack foods the entire vacation.

No they didn't but I didn't ask. I know if you call the WDW Dining they can provide info regarding special needs, recommend, and then if make reservations, can inform the chef's prior to arrival. Then remind CM once arrived and normally the chef will come out and let you know what is available for that special need diet.

good luck.
