Garden Grill booked?

I tried this morning to get Garden Gill for Sept 28th and it was completely booked. I find it odd that this dinner booked so quickly. Is it that popular? We love it but I don't remember it being packed in the past. Or is Epcot going to be packed because of the wine and food festival?

I tried for 9/26, 9/27 and 9/28 and had the same problem. I tried it bc I couldn't get Chef Mickey when I wanted to. I wondering if others are doing the same thing as a second choice. We need more character meals Disney!

It usually isn't...BUT it is free dining and the food and wine so that really factors in

we sometimes try a restaurant as they are openning to see if they can fit us...most of the time we don't get turned away (we tried this at CM as they were about to open, I asked nicely if they can fit 3 people and the lady said we can sit you in 5 mins, 1900 park fare, BOMA, Chefs de France...we usually try as the restaurant is about to open)...if we did not get in we can try another especially Epcot has many CS.

I tried to book Garden Grill for several nights of our trip (Sept 18-26) and came away empty. I found this very odd as I was able to snag ressies for Le Cellier, CM and a few cat 2 dinner shows with no problem.

I think it may be a combination of F&W, free dining and WDW cutting back on character meals. They closed LTT and cut GG to dinner only.

That leaves Askerhaus in Epcot as the only real character meal with the exception of GG for dinner. Those with boys or who may have already done a princess meal may wish to try something different like GG. Other than CM isn't this the only restaurant with Mickey?
