The only character meals I have been to are the buffets or Akershus.

I understand that servers bring your the meal rather than the buffet system.

Do they bring this family-style? If so, do they bring samplings of everything and bring seconds (and thirds) of the items the family eats?
Do you order one selection and get seconds?

Here's my main question: If the second scenario is the case, and you order a particular selection, can you get something different the second time, or do they charge you for a second meal?

Yes it's family style and yes they bring more when you request it
You don't order just one thing, they bring it all out. You can request more of what you want, you don't have to get more of everything

It's served family style and it's a set menu so they bring out a platter of everything and then if/when you'd like seconds you can request seconds of certain items and not of others if you didn't care for something.

We asked for seconds of the mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, and sliced beef.

Same goes for breakfast. They readily refill whatever you ask for. We love his style of character meet, as we don't have to chase ough the buffet and hurry back to table when we spot a character at our table.
