Garden Grill/Akershus

I've been trying to get a rough draft of the ADR's I really want together and I've hit a small conundrum as to these 2. I want to do a lunch at Akershus, more so for the food, but I do love me some Princesses, lol. But I also am definiteyl going to try to get into CRT sometime during my trip, either breakfast or lunch. Is it overkill to do 2 Princess meals? And then I also want to do a "classic" character meal, and am thinking The Garden Grill. Should I possibly do that instead of Akershus? How is the food at GG? Or I could try to fit in both? Thanks in advance!

We are fans of Garden Grill. It is very low key and the character interaction is great. It is not a a wild and crazy character meal. The food is good. I would say its better than Akershus and its also all you can eat. I would not do 2 princess meals unless I had a child that was crazy for them.

Our family tradition is to eat at Akershus before the Park opens during one of our Epcot days. We love everything about Akershus....the food, atmosphere, and service are all very very good and the character interaction is awesome. We did dine at GG for the first time this past December and thought that was good too, but not as good as Akershus . The character interaction, service, and atmosphere is awesome. We have never been in a restaurant that actually moves before and since we were there for my B-Day, our server sang me a birthday song (other than the traditional b-day song) that had everyone clapping and laughing when he was done....it was great . However, I thought the food was just o.k. (my DH and kids thought it was great), I guess my taste buds were off that day .

We are dining at CRT on our day of arrival 5/18. We are having dinner at Akershus the next day and a few days later we are doing GG. We have DS 6 and DD 18 months at time of travel. If you have kids, or are a Disney Fanatic, I say do as many Character Meals as you can!!!

We did Akershus & CRT both for lunch in our last trip. I didn't think it was too many princesses, but DD3 was ALL about the princesses. I swear we saw princesses every day! We are doing both again for breakfast in May. We enjoyed Akershus for lunch. The only princess that was different between CRT was Ariel was at Akershus & Jasmine was at CRT. Otherwise, it was Cinderella, Belle, Aurora & Snow White at both.

I can't comment on Garden Grill.

I had thought about doing Akershus for breakfast, but right now I'm booked on the deluxe dining plan, and, well...I don't know, breakfast food can get kinda boring, lol. Of course, if GG did lunch again it would make things slightly easier. Plus, I'm interested in trying the Norwegian food they serve during lunch/dinner.

Just thinking about dinner at Akershus makes me happy...
We'll be back in October, for my 40th birthday, doing the basic dining plan instead of deluxe this time... so no signature dining for us this time around...

Akershus is one of our favorites!
You get a picture taken with the Princess of the day (Belle when we were there) and get one 8 x 10 and two 5 x 7's I think, when you leave.

In between you get to see lots of princesses if you're into that sort of thing
But we go for the Norwegian fare. I only get fish entrees there- nobody does fish like the Norwegians and I love the cold buffet apps as well... and yummy desserts

We always eat at the Garden Grill each time we visit! It's one of those restaurants that just makes you smile - from the host/hostess to the wait staff to the most amazing character interactions - everyone feels like "family". On our last trip, one of our daughters was feeling poorly and they went out of their way to make her comfy with her food, comfy at the booth, just plain comfy!!! She'll always remember how special she was treated! Okay....I'm rambling...sorry! Foods great, atmosphere's great...

Gah! They both sound so good! I think, if I can get the ADR's, do Akershus for lunch and just not eat a lot, and then do the opposite my 2nd Epcot day. Have a light lunch then GG for dinner. Unless I change my mind again, lol. I guess I'm just a little self-concious about having 2 sets of pictures with the same princessess, lol.
