Garbage cans in resort rooms

I am not sure if our family just accumulates more trash than most but our garbage cans are ALWAYS overflowing. I know there are a few in the rooms but they get full so quickly because they are so small. Is there a way to fix this problem or maybe I should just bring a few black plastic garbage bags with me when we go. We wind up stacking garbage around the cans. Are we the only ones?

We had this problem and Wilderness Lodge last year. We reused some of the bigger bags from souvenir shopping and set those next to the garbage cans and they were removed with mousekeeping. It was usually bottles of water or Powerade that took up most of the room.

You can call housekeeping and they will bring you an extra can.

We do this as well on some days. I just try to keep it as tidy as possible.

We had a birthday party in one of the rooms... yeah we had LOTS of recycling! I just folded it all into a gift box and bag, and labeled it and Mousekeeping took care of it. :)

Be careful doing this if you have any actual souvenirs, or anything you want to keep, inside of bags.

At DLH years ago we had been keeping the box for DS's stormtrooper blaster for the trip home. We had only softsided luggage and figured that we woukdnbeed the box to keep it safe.

We had our pile of obvious stuff, and we had the garbage. And over the course of our stay the likes got a little too close. And after days of that bag being ignored, one day the housekeeper took it.

It all worked out. The tsa agent could tell the difference between a stormtrooper blaster and a real weapon and let it through security. But it wasn't nice if that housekeeper! Now, years later, we rarely have housekeeping in and we are very careful separating things out.

We bring a few larger trash bags. Not the giant black ones, we don't have that much trash, lol. I bring one 'tall kitchen' size white trash bag for each day. It takes up zero room in our luggage, and we put them to good use. I use the brown bags that our groceries are delivered in for recycling water bottles. The bins in the rooms are tiny! I just leave the trash and recycling bags by the bins and housekeeping always takes them.

Not sure about the regular resorts, but the DVC resorts have a room on every floor with a large trash receptacle. You can go to that room and dump your trash whenever you like.

There are 2 garbage cans, one is recycling only if I remember correctly. Recycling for bottles, paper etc and one for just garbage. You could prob ask housekeeping for extra garbage bags.

Just got back and had the same trash problems. One problem is that the bag isn't deep enough for the trash can and everytime I put something in, the bag went down with it. I don't know why but we accumulate a ton of trash but I'd rather deal with Disney trash than home trash!

Thanks everyone. It's definitely not just a Disney resort issue, happens when we stay in Marriotts also. The garbage can is the size you would put next to a desk to throw a few papers in. I think the main reason we have a lot of trash is because we eat in the room a lot and that trash accumulates. I wouldn't have a problem bringing our trash to a garbage can on the same floor but to be honest, I have never seen one? Unless there is one at the elevator? I just don't want to transfer trash traveling in the elevator.

It that true at BLT? I know they only have ice machines on about 3 or 4 floors. Never looked for a trash room, but I have looked for ice. Fortunately we don't have a lot of trash.

We've occasionally filled up the garbage can in our room at Disney but all I did was take the bag out, tie it up, and set it next to the garbage can. Then I put a new empty bag in the can. There have always been several empty trash bags either in the bottom of the can or hanging over the edge of it -- at least they were that way in our rooms at Pop Century & AoA.

Research tells me that they are on each floor, towards the center of the building.

I wonder if BLT has a trash room on every floor but only ice on limited floors. I know last time, I had to ask a CM and was told something like 3, 8, and 12 floor. Don't remember what the numbers were, but definitely not "it's down the hall on the left". I had to take the elevator.
