OK to leave items for a garage sale in boxes?

I'm taking BOXES of baby clothes over to a friend's house for a garage sale while I am out of town. My sister-in-law says its OK to just separate things into boxes of $.25, $.50 & $1.00 and that people will go through them. Since I'm just supposed to be taking the stuff to a friend's house, is this OK? I'd hate to impose and ask her to lay it out, but I've read that your supposed to do that. I put the outfits together in baggies. Also, would you mark each item or just leave them in marked boxes?

Since I'm at it....... I'm putting up a double stroller for sale that was around $180 brand new and only used a couple times. I have no idea what to price it at.

ANY AND ALL GARAGE SALE ADVICE IS APPRECIATED!!!

Depending upon the age of the stroller, I probably wouldn't ask more than $25. I know it sounds ridiculously low for an expensive stroller, but this is a yard sale. Maybe you would get more if you consigned it. I know you would get more on ebay, but tough to ship! Maybe if it is just a year or two old you could ask $50, but that would probably be a stretch.

About the clothes.... I would definintely mark the $1.00 outfits, at the very least.... clothes have a funny way of hopping from the $1 box to the .25 box... all by themselves!..............P

How will your friend know how much your stuff costs? You can't expect her to memorize what is in each box. You should price out each item to make it easy for her. You'd be amazed at how sneaky some customers can be when it comes to being honest about the price on the item. I've seen people remove price stickers and some switch stickers.

My experience with not marking was everyone saying this is from the .25 table. So now I tag everything. I sold my stroller which was used probably a dozen times (before I gave up on it and bought an easy open close and lighter weight one) for $35.00 (it was $100.00 new. Remember they will always ask if you will take less!

It sounds like leaving everything in boxes is OK, that I just need to mark everything? I'm printing stickers right now....

I think I'll ask the moon for the stroller ($75) and just plan on taking it to a consignment store when it doesn't sell. I'm sure a consignment place will take it. It looks brand new and is not even a year old yet. It never hurts to try, right?

It's kinda sad selling away my baby clothes. Not sad enough for more babies though...............

I would definitely not take less then you want for the stroller. Well maybe $50..anyone who knows strollers will know they are getting a good deal

I would mark everything individually as well and you should put your initials on the tags so they are easier to separate when figuring out the money.

As for the stroller. We have a community center that does a kids sale every year where you can rent a space for about $25 and sell only kids things. I do this every year. I had a double stroller in there that was also like new with the car seat bucket with it. I sold it for $125.00 (Graco). Some people know how much these things sell for and are willing to pay a bit more. Not sure they would pay that much at a garage sale but I wouldn't start it too low. People will always bargain with you. Just tell your friend the lowest price that you will go on it so she will know in case anyone asks.

Be sure to tell you friend exactly what you are willing to take for the stroller. If you price it for $75, will you take $50? $65? Just so she knows. I hate being on the spot like that for somebody else. I'd rather know for sure what my friend would do.

Hope that helps!
