I know there are several threads on this, but I really just need a few opinions. I bought a Wii for my kids for Christmas. Girl - age 10 (not at all into sports, more into fashion, etc.), Boy - age 8 (way into sports), Boy - age 2 1/2 (too young, but eventually he will get to play it). We have an XBOX 360 that my husband and my 8 year old boy play together (mostly have sports related games on it), but I thought this would be more family oriented and something for my daughter too. Now, which games to buy. They are pretty expensive so I was just thinking maybe one for each and then one for the family (total of 3 to start off with). Also, I bought the box that was $249, I haven't even opened it. But I am sure I need some accessories. Any suggestions on games and accessories? I have looked at Cookoff Mama, Boogie, High School Musical 2, and Dance Dance Revolution. Thanks in advance!!

We bought our 10yo Ds this for his bday. He loves it! It came with the Wii sports and a controller. He can also play his game cube games on his Wii.

Your system should have come with a controller and some of the games actually come bundled with a controller. I would suggest you get two controllers and the charging dock.

I am looking at Wii games, too, BTW so maybe my choices can direct yours?

Wii big brain academy
Wii Super mario galaxy
Wii Fit
Wii TMNT
Wii Boogie
Wii Play

We were lucky enough to get our Wii last Christmas. Our entire family loves it, not just the gaming-fanatic males. The Wii Sports that comes with the system remains a favorite, especially of my ds7 and dd4. If ds7 had to name a favorite Wii game, it would have to be Zelda. Of course, he loves all of the Zelda games -- in all formats. Other hits with the entire family are Carnival Games, Rayman, WarioWare (Fun!!!), and Elebits (strangely addictive). Ds15 has some favorites of his own, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment when it comes to any titles for him.

We have had our Wii since March, and the whole family loves it. My dd8 and dd5 like the Tony Hawk games, WarioWare, Big Brain Academy, and Boogie. They requested Guitar Hero III, Dance Dance Revolution, and Sims for Christmas.

We LOVE Mario Party 8 and have had it since it came out. It has many options - longer games and mini-games, with various skill levels. My DD 5 and DS 3 love to play it.

I like Carnival, but I am a skee-ball fanatic and am obsessed with unlocking all the prizes.

Both of these games are easy to learn and pretty gender neutral. Have fun with the new Wii - it is totally awesome!

I think your daughter would enjoy MySims. It is not at all like the other versions. This one is VERY kid friendly. It is a bit simplistic, but there's enough to keep her interest if she's into fashion/decorating.

Games for everyone.......

Mario Party 8

Big Brain Academy

Super Smash Bros. Brawl - I think it's going to be one of those must have kind of games. It will be released 12/03.

Rayman Raving Rabbids - The second installment will be out 11/13.

In addition to wii sports, DS who is 6 likes Super Monkeyball, WarioWare, and Mysims. I think these games will also be very entertaining with older 8-9 year olds. When we got our 2nd controller, we went with the wiiPlay package, which has pool, fishing and a few other games that he also loves.

.

Unfortunately the pushed this release back to 2/10/08 :(

We have the following games and my kids (DS8 and DD4 play most of them if not all of them)

Sports
Play
monkeyball
cooking mama (your daughter may like this I did and my daughter does lol)
Spider-Man Fried or Foe (My son loves this!)
Big Brain Academy
POkemon Battle Revolution (Only get this if they have Diamon or PEarl for the DS without it this game really stinks)
Mario Party 8

I think that's it. We are really looking forward to MArio vs Sonic at the Olympics which I believe comes out this month. Disney released a Princess game for the Wii and a Power Ranger (last gamecube game that will be made) one for the gamecube recently.

We love the Wii, like someone else said this truly is fun for the whole family. My husband's mom (68 years old) even played bowling on the Wii SPorts game

We love our Wii. Before I buy any game I rent it from Blockbuster or whatever rental place and try it out. Right now I'm on the hunt for Guitar Hero. No luck finding it so far in Canada. Always sold out.
